As a subsidiary of L3Harris Technologies and within the Integrated Mission Systems Segment, the WESCAM division develops the most advanced optical sensor and targeting systems for global defense and military sectors, National Security, Search & Rescue and Airborne law enforcement agencies. About the Role

The Test Engineering – Electrical team at L3Harris WESCAM is responsible for designing, developing, and validating functional and system-level test equipment, including test boxes, circuit card assemblies (CCAs), and cables that are deployed throughout the factory as well as at contract manufacturers. The team also develops robust, reliable test software and firmware to simulate a range of signals, including mixed-signal I/O, EO/IR camera sensor data, and digital communication protocols, maximizing UUT test coverage and product quality. Working closely with design engineering and cross-functional NPI teams, the team defines test requirements, assesses product testability, and ensures Design for Testability (DFT) principles are embedded throughout the product lifecycle.

• Excellent verbal and written communication and collaboration skills.
• Experience with Development Lifecycle methodologies (Git Flow)
• Support quality practices (AS9100 and ISO9001)

Tasks to be Accomplished

• Design, develop and support functional and system-level test boxes, and test wiring harnesses
• Define test requirements, developing schematics, PCB layouts, and test interface wiring harnesses for simple to intermediate UUT designs
• Follow departmental processes for test development including design reviews, configuration management, requirements management and test equipment qualification
• Design, develop and manage Boundary Scan tests and pass thru’ assembly tests
• Involved in technical reviews and provide feedback on the designs of fellow Test Engineers/Test Engineering Designer
• Engage in continuous improvement to enhance Test Automation and Test architecture

Technical Skills Required

• Familiar with various technologies in Electronics and Test Engineering.
• Familiar with circuit card assemblies, wiring harnesses, and circuit card manufacturing processes.
• Familiar with designing custom circuit cards using OrCad Capture and Allegro PCB layout.
• Familiar with designing with microcontrollers, FPGA's and programming in VHDL.
• Familiar with communications protocols (i.e. RS232, RS422, USB, I2C, CAN Bus, Ethernet etc.).
• Familiar with SDI video standards and signal analysis techniques
• Familiar with designing and developing functional tests and/or automation systems using LabVIEW & C#.
• Familiar with JTAG Boundary Scan testing.     

Experience & Education Requirements

University - enrolled in 3rd year Electrical/Computer Engineering/Technology or Mechantronics program
