Job Description:

L3Harris Technologies is seeking a Software Engineering Scientist (Level 6) Software Systems Architect for a team developing electronic warfare software systems and solutions.

This role requires a candidate for independently developing software and systems architectures for Electronic Warfare data capture, processing, exploitation, and management. Prior experience is required with Model Based Systems Engineering, Electronic Warfare Systems, and the development of on-premise enterprise systems.

Close coordination with systems engineering, end users, and other disciplines is required to shape requirements, guide development, and architect solutions that solve real-world problems in the Electronic Warfare data management domain. Assistance with proposal development and estimation will also be required. International travel will be necessary to meet end-users, customers and other stakeholders. Prior tactical and/or operational experience within an Armed Forces branch in a technical intelligence discipline is also desired.

Essential Functions:

  • Interfaces and work with end users, customers, and stakeholders to understand, gather, interpret, and document/develop requirements for Electronic Warfare (EW) data management systems
  • Development of software and systems architectures using a Model Based Systems Engineering tool (e.g., Cameo Systems Modeler) that describes candidate systems sufficiently well enough to bid and execute from
  • Strong presentation skills and communication of concepts to end-users, customers, stakeholders, and audiences of varying technical backgrounds
  • Creation of Technical Baseline Reviews and support to Basis of Estimate activities
  • Authoring, technical writing, and delivery of proposals
  • Provide strong representation and promotion of L3Harris Technologies, Inc. and be a thought leader with the ability to shape and define opportunities
  • Leading, managing, and mentoring teams of full-stack software engineers
    • Developing software architecture and high-level designs
    • Designing private cloud deployment architecture and documentation
    • Decomposing software requirements into discrete actionable
    • Mentoring engineers on SW design principles and software system designs
  • International travel will be required (10-25%)
  • Ability to Obtain a US Security Clearance

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 12 years of prior relevant experience in Software Engineering. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 10 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 16 years of prior related experience in Software Engineering.

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Understanding and familiarity with how AI/ML techniques can be applied to the EW domain
  • Prior tactical and/or operational experience within an Armed Forces branch in a technical intelligence discipline.
  • Experience with training or interacting with customers in Asia and the Middle East  
  • Preferred background, experience, and familiarity with creating secure solutions that may involve zero-trust patterns, encryption, firewalls, Public Key Infrastructure, cross-domain solutions, and related technologies.
  • Demonstrated capability of working with customers and stakeholders on developing system requirements, use cases, concepts of operation, system architectural views, and other diagrams to sufficiently describe a system for the benefit of customers, stakeholders, and implementers.
  • Fundamentally strong critical-thinking, problem-solving and analytical skills while at the same time applying creativity and innovation to create ground-breaking customer solutions.
  • Experience in Electronic Warfare (EW) disciplines, with knowledge of wider EW disciplines, including Electronic Support Measures, Electronic Attack, Electronic Counter Measures, or Electronic Protection, and development of EW parametric databases for reprogramming ESM systems.
  • Capability to both create and lead system and software teams to develop proofs of concept and prototypes using specialized or COTS hardware, networks, and both compiled and scripted languages that can transition into an operational program.
  • Demonstrated expertise in using Microsoft Windows and Linux operating systems.
  • Experience and strong background in both local and wide area networking systems with the capability to architect networked solutions that operate across a variety of network regimes including the Internet, SATCOM, tactical radio, and sensitive/closed networks.
  • Capable of developing a working knowledge of L3Harris and partner product lines and technologies in such a manner as to be capable of architecting solutions that incorporate these product lines and technologies.
  • Background and experience with the application of system architectural patterns and technologies to solve customer and stakeholder problems, such as Service Oriented Architectures, microservices, patterns for time-dominant systems, virtualization, cloud architectures, and so forth.
  • Experience with and possess a fundamental understanding of how to create reliable and scalable databases and data processing systems using a variety of applicable technologies.
  • Capability to design system-level and service-level Application Programmer Interfaces.
  • Possess a fundamental understanding of commercial server architectures for the purpose of specifying and procuring hardware for solutions that involve processing, memory, storage, networking, Graphic Processing Units, and other related components.
  • Capable of developing estimates, plans, schedules, and budgets to realize a given architectural solution.
