Job Title: Senior Associate, Facilities Electrical Engineer

Job Description:

The Facilities Electrical Engineer is part of the Facilities engineering team and tasked with designing new, and oversight of existing electrical systems to meet the requirements and reliability to support the ever-changing business needs of L3Harris in Salt Lake City. This location is approximately 1M sq. ft. and is comprised of lab, manufacturing, and office space.

Essential Functions:

• Perform engineering calculations: electrical system sizing, lighting, and energy code analysis.
• Design power distribution systems, lighting, and tele-data for new and remodel construction activities.
• Develop construction documents: drawings, specifications (MasterSpec), and statements of work. Includes coordination with other disciplines and document/drawing review.
• Estimate project construction costs.   
• Perform energy audits, usage calculations, and circuit analysis for critical loads throughout the plant and circuit protection for voltage sag for critical loads.
• Validate & optimize the facility through efficiency analysis for cost savings and reduction of energy throughout the plant.
• Plan and lead electrical system maintenance and installation activities with contractors and in-house maintenance personnel.
• Support with troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
• Operate advanced electrical engineering design software (SKM, Easy Power, etc.) to perform short circuit calculation studies, protective device coordination studies including device settings, and arc-flash studies.
• Develop plans to address power quality Issues.  Specifically, power quality problems caused by large VFD Drives and UPS systems. 
• Develop plans to reduce ARC-Flash incidents Energy levels (PPE Requirements) 
• Ability to complete projects with little supervision and ability to manage time appropriately.   

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience. Graduate Degree or equivalent with 0 to 2 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 6 years of prior related experience.

Preferred Additional Skills:

• Proficiency in the following software: AutoCAD, REVIT (preferred), SKM or Easy Power.
• Proficiency in conducting Arc flash and coordination studies.
• Thorough understanding of commercial electrical power systems, substations, emergency generators, uninterruptable power supplies, and 400Hz systems.
• Thorough knowledge of the following codes: NEC/NFPA 70, NFPA 70B, and NFPA 70B.  
• Professional engineering license
• Knowledge of BAS programming: BACnet, LonWorks, Modbus
