Job Description:

L3Harris is seeking an experienced Structural Analyst to join our engineering organization within the Space and Mission Systems segment. In this role, you will provide technical leadership across multidisciplinary teams, performing structural and mechanical analysis on complex mechanical systems and precision mechanisms in a collaborative program environment. You will deliver analysis solutions that support proposal development, hardware testing, design evaluations, and key program decisions across advanced aerospace and space systems.

Essential Functions:

• Interpret design specifications and develop finite element models of complex components and assemblies for structural analysis.
• Perform structural analyses at the component and assembly levels, including stress, strain, displacement, modal, static, dynamic/shock, and random/acoustic response evaluations.
• Use FEMAP for pre- and post-processing and NASTRAN to solve finite element models.
• Prepare reports, formal documentation, and presentation materials that clearly communicate analysis methods, results, and recommendations.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers and designers.
• Lead and coordinate structural design and analysis activities as an IPT lead, including direct interaction with technical leads and management.
• Support lead structural analyst during Preliminary Design Reviews (PDR), Critical Design Reviews (CDR), Technical Interchange Meetings (TIM), and other program reviews.
• Collaborate with suppliers, customers, and cross-functional teams, including Thermal, Systems, Electrical, Manufacturing, Integration and Test, Quality, and Configuration Management, to drive designs to closure.
• Present design and analysis details to customers, independent reviewers, and internal stakeholders.
• Support new business and proposal efforts.
• Manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment and adapt quickly to changing requirements.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. TS/SCI security clearance

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum 6 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior related experience
• 4+ years of professional experience applying structural analysis methods, including finite element analysis and hand calculations.
• 4+ years of professional experience supporting aerospace systems, with an emphasis on structural and dynamics analysis.
• Professional experience with FEA software and pre/post-processing solvers

Preferred Additional Skills:

• Active TS/SCI Clearance is preferred
• Knowledge of system level hardware design & development, mechanical and structural analysis, payload level integration & test, and risk mitigation for space-based environments.
• Experience with FEMAP with NASTRAN
• Familiarity with Mathcad, Creo, MATLAB, and Python.
• Experience with optics and/or opto-mechanical hardware.
• Ability to work independently and within a multi-disciplined team environment
• Experience as a lead engineer, project engineer, or IPT lead is a plus.
• Experience in the space industry highly desired
