Job Description:

The Wescam USA (WUSA) Service Center department is looking for a highly motivated and talented Manufacturing Repair Technician (Mfg Tech) to provide quality service and repair of complex MX-Series surveillance turrets.  The Mfg Tech will normally work directly onsite at the WUSA facility in Loveland, Colorado.  The Mfg Tech must always project a positive image of our department and company that will meet our customers’ highest expectations for service and support of their L3Harris Technologies equipment.

The most important performance objective for this department is to troubleshoot, diagnose, repair, test and maintain Wescam MX-Series systems in accordance with pre-established processes, while adhering to demanding customer deadlines.  A successful MX-Series repair technician understands the gimbal system and how all components and subsystems work together (including peripheral interfaces), and can effectively troubleshoot, repair and test a failed system.

Serve as part of a motivated extended team that supports various U.S. Homeland Security, Law Enforcement, and DoW/Military customers by repairing mission critical Wescam surveillance systems in a timely manner.  This position requires a creative, forward-thinking and energetic individual possessing an excellent electro-mechanical technician skillset.  Exceptional communication, relationship building, and problem-solving skills are a must.  The best MX-Series repair technicians are reliable team players with a focus on customer satisfaction and attention to detail.

Essential Functions:

• Effectively troubleshoot, repair and service Wescam MX-Series systems within 90 days of onboarding.  Initial MX Training may include formal 2-week training courses, followed by extensive on-the-job training.
• Ability to troubleshoot and repair MX-Series products to the system replaceable unit (SRU) level.
• Knowledge of infrared/optical/laser systems is preferred.
• Attention to detail and advanced problem-solving capabilities a must.
• Ability to work both independently and within a team setting.
• Experience with electro-mechanical troubleshooting.
• Perform incoming/outgoing functional test procedures and accurately recognize system non-conformances.
• Troubleshoot, diagnose and repair systems by replacing faulty components/sub-assemblies.
• Install software and firmware in accordance with established procedures.
• Prepare and submit all required service documentation within established timeframes.
• Attend off-site training courses and complete self-study as required to maintain competency and compliance with established company policies, processes and procedures.
• Interface with internal and external customers and clearly communicate current repair status of assigned systems as required.
• Provide regular status reports on work in progress to shop management and other key personnel.
• Uphold safety requirements by utilizing appropriate PPE as required in designated areas or certain maintenance evolutions.
• Work against contractual deadlines to meet customer delivery dates.
• Access and utilize web based technical publications and instructions.
• Follow ESD, FOD and Laser Safety procedures.
• Perform post-maintenance tests per procedure guidelines.
• Works under limited supervision. Less detailed instructions are. provided, and minimal peer review is required.
• Communicates with contacts typically within and outside the department on matters that involve obtaining or providing information requiring explanation or interpretation to understand and reach agreement.
• Work may be structured within identified boundaries and procedures. Follows established processes to complete tasks. Identifies problems and issues in straightforward situations.
• Works to achieve operational targets within job area which has direct impact on the overall achievement of results for the team.
• All other duties as assigned
• This position will require the ability to travel domestically. Up to 10% travel may be required.

Qualifications:

• Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 6 years of prior relevant experience or 2 years post-Secondary/Associates Degree with a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience.

Preferred Additional Skills:

• Special Operations, AFSOC, DOD, Airborne Law Enforcement or other similar experiences are highly desired.
• Previous work experience with aircraft, tower, or aerostat-based sensor systems is highly desired.
• Familiarity with government contracting is preferred but not required.
• Previous success working under limited supervision or autonomously.
• Previous experience successfully prioritizing and managing multiple projects at one time. This would include proven, acute attention to detail & excellent organizational skills.
• Must be able to work in fast-paced, schedule-driven environment as part of a team or independently, without sacrificing product output quality. Ability to logically address, analyze, and resolve problems is a must.
• Previous end-user experience with aircraft, tower, or aerostat-based MX-Series sensor systems is desired.
• Demonstrable knowledge of troubleshooting electronics and mechanical systems, customer service skills and being a part of a motivated and diverse team.
• 4+ years’ direct experience as a Technician specializing in troubleshooting, integrating, repairing high-performance stabilized imaging systems and/or at least 4 years’ experience as an electro-mechanical technician on products that are similar in complexity. May be a resource to other employees in areas of expertise.  Assignments are moderately difficult requiring some judgment.
• 4+ years’ experience maintaining complex electro-mechanical systems in the field and/or factory is highly desired.
• 4+ years’ experience troubleshooting system faults to the Line Replaceable Unit (LRU) level.
• 4+ years’ experience with MS Office applications including Word and Excel is required.
• 4+ years’ experience communicating clearly (written and verbal) with technical and non-technical customers (internal/external) on matters that involve obtaining or providing information requiring explanation or interpretation to reach an understanding/agreement.

In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in Colorado state, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New York state, Cleveland Ohio, Vermont and Virginia is $49,500- $91,500. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
