Job Description:
L3Harris is seeking experienced Integration/Test Engineers for our (SPYDR) Italian program location. Providing maintenance, test, sustainment, and subject matter expertise on the SPYDR aircraft platform and ground stations. As a member of the SPYDR Program, the Test Engineer will be the technical POC for all mission systems related equipment.
This position requires the ability to work full time OCONUS with local deployments to support missions.
Essential Functions:
- Supporting system hardware, software, troubleshooting, integration,testing, modification, technical writing, and bench-level repairs.
- Ensuring mission system technical performance and conducting airborne testing.
- Serving as the technical interface to the Program Management Office.
- Planning, organizing, and controlling engineering tasks associated with ground station and airborne mission systems, including signal development, equipment design, integration, and adaptation of various test equipment.
- Working directly with the customer, Program Management Office, Project Engineer, and authorized sub-contractors.
- Evaluating current test equipment, facilities, and support equipment, and making recommendations for future expansion.
- Coordinating test activities and resolving engineering design issues.
- Setting the highest ethical standards and performing other duties as assigned, which may include assisting with aircraft ground handling and Avionic maintenance.
- Implementing engineering changes and revisions to systems.
- Installation, maintenance, configuration, and testing of special mission systems on airborne platforms, including mission management hardware and software, crypto systems, IFF, missile warning, optical sensors, digital ICS, video encoding and distribution, circuit protection, BLOS and datalink networks, FMV, tactical radios, COMINT, and ELINT systems.
- Set-up and maintenance of tactical ground control stations.
- Ability to use PuTTY, WinSCP, Wireshark and other network software as required.
- Test system definition, system development, integration, and test activities.
- System interface definition and control.
- Airborne antenna installation and theory.
- Hardware and software configuration control.
- Aircraft avionics and electronics (wiring and cabling) installation techniques.
- Familiarity with signal generators, spectrum analyzers and other advanced test equipment.
- Technical ability across multiple engineering disciplines and support for multiple RF/COMINT/ELINT systems.
- Technical red-line revision writing of user documentation and other technical manuals for mission system platforms.
- Working knowledge of maintaining Supplemental Type Certificated (STC) equipment on an airborne platform.
- Willingness and ability to work other shifts, weekends, and overtime as required.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 4 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of prior related experience.
- Active Secret security clearance.
- Current CompTIA Security+ Certification or ability to obtain
- Some experience working in a Linux environment.
- Minimum 2 years experience working with COMINT/ELINT and other communication systems.
- Minimum 6 months experience creating and maintaining mission management software.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) license
- Prior Mission Systems Field Service experience with L3Harris or SNC systems systems.
- Experience with L-3 RIO collection and L-3 Viewpoint systems.
- CompTIA A+ Network + Certifications.
- Demonstrated leadership experience.
- Linux Certification.
- TS/SCI Clearance.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Teams, OneNote, Excel)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Essential physical requirements will be reviewed during the interview.
