Job Description:

Serve as a technical expert supporting the Navy's strategic missile test program. Provide specialized expertise to Naval Ordnance Test Unit (NOTU) personnel on radio frequency (RF) telemetry and flight termination systems, supporting both shore-based refurbishment operations and mission-critical flight test events. Work as part of a six-person team responsible for the modification, repair, refurbishment, testing, and technical support of complex electronic systems supporting missile flight test operations at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station and aboard submarine platforms.

Essential Functions:

  • Responsible for completing projects and processes within the Test Instrumentation group, achieving operational targets for electronics systems assembly, integration, testing, and technical support for Navy customers. Serve as the on-site L3Harris technical representative during operational Navy testing events, providing independent technical assessments and troubleshooting guidance to NOTU personnel during critical and time-sensitive missile flight tests. Support refurbishment, testing, and quality assurance activities for M350 and M264 RF telemetry systems, ensuring mission readiness for strategic missile test operations.

  • Assigned tasking requires communication within the Integrated Technical Solutions and Range and Test Solutions groups, as well as coordination with NOTU personnel, external supporting contractors, and Navy customers. Requires occasional guiding, coaching, and training of other employees on technical areas of responsibility. Support of electronics systems includes analysis, problem solving following established troubleshooting procedures, procedure and process review, and technical innovations.
  • Requires the employee to make independent technical decisions during mission support operations and daily work activities. Requires discretion and independent judgment when serving as sole L3Harris representative during operational test events.

  • Requires travel to provide contracted services on a varying schedule. When not on travel, supports various tasking at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station to include refurbishment support for NOTU operations, quality assurance inspections per IPC and Navy documentation standards, system testing and grooming, inventory management, maintaining electronic logbooks, documentation review and updates, supporting industry partner testing requirements, on-the-job training, and other tasking as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree and minimum 4 years of prior related experience, or Graduate Degree and minimum of 2 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, a minimum of 8 years of prior related experience.
  • 4+ years of experience with test and measurement equipment (multimeters, oscilloscopes, signal analyzers, power meters) to troubleshoot, test, and validate complex electronic systems
  • 4+ years of experience conducting electronic troubleshooting following written troubleshooting procedures and interpreting signal flow diagrams and technical schematics
  • 4+ years of experience with assembly, integration, and testing of complex electronic systems including circuit cards, cable assemblies, and electronic equipment racks
  • 4+ years of experience supporting missile flight test operations, aerospace test programs, or defense electronic systems.
  • Travel up to 15% of the time to support operational missile flight test events at US and UK locations.
  • Ability to infrequently embark on US and UK submarines to support test operations.
  • Ability to climb and work on elevated platforms.
  • Ability to support occasional weekend work.

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Experience with M350 or M264 RF Set systems
  • Experience with RF telemetry systems for missile flight test operations
  • Naval Ordnance Test Unit (NOTU) experience or familiarity with Navy test operations
  • Knowledge of signal processing and RF signal flow analysis
  • Experience with command line interfaces (Command Prompt, Linux terminal)
  • Familiarity with IPC workmanship standards and Navy documentation standards
  • Experience with flight termination systems or tracking systems for missile test operations
  • Ability to operate independently as a technical representative during mission operations
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with ability to coordinate with military customers and technical personnel
  • Experience reviewing and providing improvements to technical procedures and documentation
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications

In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in Florida is Min $67,000.00 - $124,000.00 Max. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location. L3Harris also offers a variety of benefits, including health and disability insurance, 401(k) match, flexible spending accounts, EAP, education assistance, parental leave, paid time off, and company-paid holidays. The specific programs and options available to an employee may vary depending on date of hire, schedule type, and the applicability of collective bargaining agreements.
