Job Description:
The Aerojet Rocketdyne Segment of L3Harris Technologies is currently seeking a Specialist in Logistics to join our growing team at our Camden, AR siteWe are seeking an experienced and dedicated Logistics Sr. Supervisor to oversee our dispatch and trucking operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring timely delivery of materials, managing driver schedules, communicating with site personnel, and maintaining high standards of safety and compliance. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, excellent communication abilities, and a thorough understanding of logistics and trucking operations.
Essential Functions:
Dispatch Management:
- Oversee daily dispatch operations to ensure timely and efficient delivery of materials.
- Develop and manage drivers’ schedules, optimizing routes for efficiency.
- Communicate with drivers to address any issues or delays.
Driver Coordination:
- Ensure all drivers are assigned appropriate routes and tasks.
- Monitor driver performance and provide guidance and support as needed.
- Address driver concerns and maintain open communication.
Safety and Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations governing trucking operations.
- Implement and enforce safety protocols to minimize accidents and incidents.
- Conduct regular safety meetings and training sessions for drivers.
Operational Efficiency:
- Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiencies and reduce costs.
- Implement process improvements to optimize dispatch and trucking operations.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and take corrective actions as necessary.
Communication and Collaboration:
- Liaise with other departments to ensure seamless coordination of logistics activities.
- Communicate effectively with internal customers to provide updates and resolve any delivery issues.
- Ensure all vehicles are in good working condition.
Reporting and Documentation:
- Maintain accurate records of dispatch activities, driver logs, and vehicle maintenance.
- Prepare regular reports on dispatch and trucking performance for senior management.
- Utilize transportation management systems (TMS) to track and analyze data.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in logistics, supply chain management, business administration, or a related field and minimum 4 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate degree and a minimum 2 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of prior related experience.
- Previous supervisory experience in logistics or transportation.
Preferred Skills:
- Proven experience in logistics, dispatch, or trucking operations.
- Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations related to trucking.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills.
- Proficiency with transportation management systems (TMS) and other relevant software.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
