As a subsidiary of L3Harris Technologies and within the Integrated Mission Systems Segment, the WESCAM division develops the most advanced optical sensor and targeting systems for global defense and military sectors, National Security, Search & Rescue and Airborne law enforcement agencies. About the Role

The successful candidate will be working to assist L3Harris Test Engineers in the design of custom test hardware used to complete functional testing of Circuit Card Assemblies (CCA) and electromechanical assemblies (EMA). The Test Engineering – Intern will also work to test and troubleshoot custom test equipment such as interface CCAs, test cables, universal test boxes, optics test boxes, arming panels, and system level functional tests.

Primary Responsibilities 

  • Design, develop, and validate automated functional test systems including schematics, PCB layouts, wiring harnesses, and fixtures, as required.
  • Creating and updating mechanical and electrical assembly drawings
  • Layout schematic and assembly drawings in OrCAD
  • Troubleshoot and repair electronic test fixtures
  • Responsible for top level test fixture box assembly and test racks
  • Generating, documenting and releasing test fixture documentation in TeamCenter (Customized Software) through ECR (Engineering Change Request)
  • Responsible for maintaining test fixture parts list
  • Engage in continuous improvement to enhance Test Automation and Test architecture
  • Responsible for the timely completion of tasks assigned by the Test Engineering team members
  • Select and justify capital equipment purchases associated with product testing
  • Support quality practices (AS9100 and ISO9001)

Required Capabilities 

  • Able test and troubleshoot electronic circuits
  • Familiar with electronics lab equipment and tools such as soldering, oscilloscopes, basic hand tools, etc.
  • Able to read and understand mechanical and electrical assembly drawings
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office
  • Must be well organized, goal oriented and able to give attention to detail
  • Strong communication and written skills are a must
  • Experience with OrCAD, AutoCad or LabVIEW

Desired Education and Experiences 

  • Enrolled in University Degree or technology program in Electrical / Computer Engineering, or equivalent.
