Job Description:

The Quality Engineering Senior Associate is responsible for the performance and execution of Advanced 8D problem solving events and for oversight / management of Zero Defect Plans to reduce the Cost of Poor Quality across the site.  This position will engage and coordinate daily with Production, Engineering, Program Office, Planning, Quality and Training to ensure effective and sustainable RCCA and ZDP are implemented across the Waco site.

The Quality Engineering Senior Associate reports directly to the Quality Assurance Manager.

Essential Functions:

·Lead/facilitate multiple 8D/ZDP teams.

·Works with senior leadership and cross functionally with Operations, Engineering, Supply Chain, Supplier Quality, Quality Control, etc. to implement effective and sustainable quality improvement actions, and implement mistake-proof solutions to address internal nonconformances, COPQ, customer escape drivers, etc.

·Lead ZDP teams to achieve/exceed key strategic metric categories: COPQ, Customer Escapes, DPPM/defect reduction, Quality & Customer Yield, etc.

·Oversees 8D and Zero-Defect Planning (ZDP) implementation to drive Quality performance and a Zero Defect/Escape mentality

·Supports relevant aspects of New Product Development (NPD) phases, including APQP

·Ensure compliance to company policies and procedures (i.e., Corrective Action Board)

·Actively oversee all major Corrective Action 8Ds to ensure adequate containment, root cause and preventive actions are in place.

·Ensure compliance to industry, regulatory, and statutory standards including, but not limited to DOD, FAA, federal, state, and local regulations, etc.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience. Graduate Degree or equivalent with 0 to 2 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 6 years of prior related experience. A Quality Assurance and Operational Excellence background is preferred.  
  • Must have RCCA knowledge experience
  • Must have at 3-5 years aviation/aircraft experience.

Preferred Additional Skills:

·Quality Assurance experience within the aerospace industry is preferred.

·Experience leading cross-functional teams.

·Knowledge and experience using Quality tools and principles (8D, ZDP, FMEA, RCCA, APQP, etc.)

·Ability to read and comprehend requirements such as AS9100, DCMA 8210.1, and internal Quality Management System (QMS) to ensure document compliance.

·Practical experience working with production and engineering personnel to learn processes for document authoring and improvement.

·Good understanding of an aircraft maintenance / repair / overhaul facility.

·Experience in analyzing information or data and ability to identify trends.

·Strong data analytics, Excel, PowerPoint presentation skills.

·Strong written, analytical and verbal communication skills.

·Excellent collaboration skills, project management skills.

·Capable of influencing a wide range of audience and having demonstrated leadership skills to win support without direct reporting structure.

·Track record of leading projects.

·Influential leader with good emotional intelligence and ability to mentor.

·Interpersonal skills: engaging communicator, strong collaborator, patient, and open minded. Excellent time management, organizational, and problem-solving skills to prioritize workload according to business demands.

·Proficient in Outlook, Word, and Excel.
