Coating Technician, WEEKEND SHIFT, Level A

About the Role

Operate various thin film coating chambers and measuring equipment.  Perform final preparation, loading & inspection of complicated optical elements. 

TASKS TO BE ACCOMPLISHED

• Cleaning / sandblasting of coating system parts and tooling
• Maintenance of ancillary equipment – sandblaster, central vacuum system, humidity test chamber
• Organization of tooling on shelves and in cabinets
• Basic preparation, setup and loading of coating system chambers
• Maintain stock of lab supplies in coating room
• Clerical duties involved with the movement of product through production

REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES

• Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision
• Ability to manually handle delicate optic parts thus ensuring quality and integrity of product
• Mechanical and electrical aptitude
• Ability to work and communicate well with others
• Ability to comprehend and follow detailed instructions
• Ability to read and interpret drawings
• Good verbal and written command of the English language

EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

• Post secondary diploma in Photonics or Physical Sciences
• Work experience in a lab environment would be a definite asset
