We are seeking to fill an Intern - Project & Component Engineering role for Summer 2025 at our Redmond, WA location.

After orientation and training, interns will perform entry-level engineering tasks on rocket propulsion projects. Interns will support senior engineering staff and gain experience and familiarization with company projects. Interns must be able to operate effectively in a team environment.

Summer internships will start in approximately May/June and end in August/September.

In our Redmond, WA, site (Seattle area), we fabricate, assemble, and test chemical and electric thrusters, as well as small scale propulsion systems.  Our electric propulsion systems enable a wide variety of missions from the exploration of our solar system to global communication and the surveillance of severe weather and wild fires.

Projects may focus on areas of project or component engineering including assisting in the successful planning, design, development, production, or qualification of chemical propulsion or electric propulsion systems for spacecraft and launch vehicle applications.

Tasks will vary but may include data collection, entry-level performance analysis, software tool development, trade studies, fabrication support, test monitoring, hardware tracking, assistance with presentations and reports to both external customers and internal staff.

Candidate must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering (or similar major) and returning to school upon completion of the assignment.

Preferred Qualifications

Pursuing a bachelor degree in engineering

Coursework in thermodynamics, heat transfer, fluid mechanics, materials, electric circuits, plasma physics, combustion and/or rocket engine performance analysis

Experience with laboratory hardware, mechanical assembly, or test

Working knowledge of Microsoft Software applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio)

MATLAB, Simulink, or CAD

Excellent verbal and written communication and

Teamwork and problem-solving skills

In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role is $25 - $47.50 / hour. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location. L3Harris also offers a variety of benefits, including relocation stipend, 401(k), EAP, and company-paid holidays. The specific programs and options available to an employee may vary depending on date of hire, schedule type, and the applicability of collective bargaining agreements.
