About your next Challenge as a Mechanical Pre-Flight Technician AVN) - CF188:
Reporting to the Operations Supervisor, the Mechanical Preflight Technician is responsible for performing modifications, inspections, and repairs to mechanical systems, as well as complex inspections and maintenance tasks on CF188 aircraft.

What will you do: 

  • Perform complex mehcanical work and visual, functional, or operational checks on CF188 aircraft in accordance with Canadian Forces Technical Orders (CFTOs), technical drawings, assembly specifications, material and process standards, and current work instructions;
  • Provide mentorship and formal training to junior technicians on CF188 mechanical systems; 
  • Participate in aircraft preparation (excluding tasks related to electrical, avionics, and electronic systems) for flight or customer acceptance;
  • Check, adjust, repair, or replace comples devices and equipment such as:
    o    Internal stowage;
    o    Seat and harnesses;
    o    Accessories and trim;
    o    Weight and balance inspections;
    o    Repair sheet metal as required.
  • Check and maintain fuel systems, flight systems such as hydraulics, pneumatics, heating and ventilation, flight controls, landing gear, engines, fire detection, etc by connecting and operating fuel test benches and devices and performing all required actions for a task, as directed;
  • If necessary, the candidate may be assigned (after successful completion of the company oxygen course) to maintain, purge, charge, and check gas or liquid oxygen systems;
  • Adhere to company Health and Safety Bulletins when handling, fueling, and moving aircraft, as well as assisting with engine starts and ground runs, etc;
  • Attend training and briefing sessions, as required;
  • Inform the team leader or supervisor of technical issues, scheduling problems, additional needs, and tehnician well-being;
  • Comply to tool control regulations;
  • Complete inspection sheets, forms, logs, and any other aircraft documents, as required;
  • Perform tasks assigned by the team leader or supervisor.

    In addition, the tecnician must comply with the administrative and technical regulations of the facility to which they are assigned regarding:

•    Health and Safety
•    Foreign Object Damage (FOD) ;
•    Flight Safety;
•    Documentation and Records;
•    Work Instructions;
•    Process Specifications.

Required Skills and Experiences:

  • Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience or 2 years post-Secondary or equivalent with a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience;
  • AME (M2) or equivalent military experience;
  • Knowledge of DMS
  • Knowledge of SAP;
  • Knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint);
  • Good oral and written communication skills in both languages (French and English). The knowledge of the English language, other than the French language is necessary due to contractual requirements;
  • Endorsement on CF188 (asset)

Eligibility Criteria (Mandatory):

  • Must be eligible for registration with the Controlled Goods Program;
  • Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a government of Canada “Reliability” status and Level 2 (Secret) security clearance.
  • Must be eligible to meet the requirements for U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
