Job Description:
The Specialist, Configuration Management is responsible for executing configuration management (CM) activities to ensure consistency among product performance, functional and physical attributes, requirements, design, and operational information throughout the product lifecycle. This role is essential to maintaining the integrity of system documentation, design artifacts, baselines, and associated configuration data through the disciplined application of established CM processes and controls. The Specialist also serves as a subject matter expert to design and program management teams, providing support for analyses, consultations, special topic discussions, tool administration, DevOps-related activities, and other assigned tasks as needed.
Essential Functions:
- Applies established configuration management documentation, processes, and principles within an Agile development environment to maintain effective control and traceability of products, configuration items, and baselines.
- Reviews and authorizes the release of drawings, technical documentation, and associated records in accordance with Program or Engineering Management direction.
- Serves as a liaison between management and cross-functional teams to resolve issues related to configuration analysis, documentation, and baseline integrity.
- Administers and supports configuration management toolsets, including Agile Product Data Management (PDM), Windchill, Confluence, SharePoint, and other related systems.
- Facilitates the Configuration Control Board (CCB) process by evaluating proposed design changes for accuracy, completeness, and impact to the overall system baseline.
- Provides training, consultation, user support, and guidance on configuration management methods, tools, procedures, and requirements to project team members responsible for generating and maintaining technical data.
- Leads or supports continuous improvement initiatives to enhance CM processes, tools, and execution.
- Supports program audits, including functional and physical configuration audits, and assists in the resolution of audit findings.
- Develops Configuration Management cost estimates and plans in support of task orders and proposal efforts.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 4 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of prior related experience.
- Experience with configuration management
- Experience using version control, document control, and product lifecycle management tools such as PLM, Agile PDM, SolidWorks, ClearCase, Subversion, Confluence, Windchill, or comparable systems.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Experience with EIA-649C, MIL-STD-973, and other applicable Configuration Management standards.
- Configuration Management certification(s), such as CMPIC, NDIA, or similar credentials.
- Experience with Statements of Work, engineering drawings, schematics, and parts lists.
- Experience with and/or certification in continuous improvement methodologies such as Lean Six Sigma.
- Flexibility to work overtime and/or outside normal business hours, as needed, to support business and program requirements.
