About your next Challenge as a Senior Specialist, Systems Engineering:
What will you do:
- Perform system and software safety assessments of the Integrated Platform Management System (IPMS);
- Conduct hazard analyses and risk assessments to identify and mitigate potential safety issues in system design;
- Develop implement and maintain system safety management plans, ensuring compliance with relevant safety regulations and industry standards;
- Analyze customer safety requirements, lead the development of the product safety requirements and ensure they are integrated into the system design and architecture;
- Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure safety considerations are integrated throughout the product lifecycle, providing guidance on mitigating risks;
- Perform Failure Modes, Effects and Criticality Analysis (FMECA), FMEDA (Failure Modes, Effects and Diagnostics Analysis), and FTA (Fault Tree Analysis);
- Partcipate in design reviews and safety audits, identifying areas for improvement and ensuring adherence to system safety standards;
- Prepare and present safety documentation, including safety cases, safety assessment reports and verification plans for stakeholders.
- Engage with regulatory bodies and support audits to ensure compliance with relevant safety regulations.
Required Skills and Experiences:
- University degree in either engineering or computer science;
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in naval or aerospace system safety/RAMS (Reliability, Availability Maintainability and Safety);
- Knowledge and experience of risk assessment methodologies and in one or more of these safety standards: MIL-STD 882, IEC61508, DEF STAN 00-56;
- Knowledge and experience in performing hazard/risk analysis, safety assessment report, safety requirements specifications, safety case, FMECA (Failure Modes, effects and Criticality Analysis), FMEDA (Failure Modes, Effects and Diagnostics Analysis), FTA Fault Tree Analysis), RBD (Reliability Block Diagrams); Experience in software development;
- Knowledge of C++;
- Understanding ADA language is an asset;
- Results-driven mindset, problem-solving skills and strong analytical skills;
- Good working knowledge of the MS Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project);
- Excellent technical and presentation skills;
- Ability to work well both independently and in a team environment, with a variety of internal and external customers with time sensitive demands while managing multiple priorities;
- Must be meticulous and detail-oriented.
- Proactive mindset with a passion for fostering a culture of safety and continuous improvement;
- Bilingual (French and English) with proficient English writing and spoken skills. The English language, in addition to the French language, is necessary due to contractual requirements;
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Eligibility Criteria (Mandatory):
- Must be eligible for registration with the Controlled Goods Program;
- Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a government of Canada “Reliability” status and Level 2 (Secret) security clearance.
- Must be eligible to meet the requirements for U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
