About your next challenge as Associate, Mechanical Systems Engineering :
Work in the Mechanical Systems Engineering group for the military CF-18 and CT-114 Programs. The candidate will assist the technical lead in the assessment of the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) CF-18 maintenance program as part of the In-service Monitoring Program (ISMP). The candidate will participate in some of the activities necessary to assure continuing airworthiness of CF-18 and CT-114 fleet mechanical systems as delegated by Canadian Department of National Defense (DND).
What you will do:
- Address maintenance snags and analyze them in relation to established design data, in-service experience and the resultant deterioration in the level of system safety;
- Provide technical support and engineering disposition in order to restore the structural integrity and the systems performance of the damaged structures/systems. The solutions must be in accordance with the customer's requirements, military (MIL-STD or other), civil (FAR, TC), and / or corporate standards in place;
- Assist the technical leader in developing mechanical system modifications, inspections, standard repairs, changes to the approved maintenance plan and installation work instructions, procedures and recommendations;
- Identify discrepancies and/or problems with drawings before releasing to production and implements corrective action to ensure the timely release;
- Support/participate in integration tests on the system; develop test scripts;
- Assist in evaluation of the reliability impact of proposed design changes per ARP4761 and / or MIL-STD-882E;
- Assess contributing factors of system safety and airworthiness degradations by supporting a root cause analysis. Identify corrective actions to restore system Reliability;
- Prepare technical reports;
- Work to improve daily processes, and ensure all work meets quality requirements.
Required Skills and Experiences:
- Bachelor's or Master’s degree in mechanical engineering, aeronautics or equivalent;
- Knowledge of mechanical systems (Hydraulics, Fuel, Pneumatics);
- Ability to read drawings;
- Strong technical writing skills including the ability to write reports in English;
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Experience with the use of software such as: MS Office, Relex/Windchill is an asset, Cameo No Magic is an asset;
- CAD experience (preferably with CATIA) a plus;
- Experience in Mechanical Systems Design / Test;
- Knowledge of ISO/IEC 15288:2008 is a major asset;
- Knowledge of MBSE SysML is a major asset; and
- Strong Communication skills.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Must be eligible for registration with the Controlled Goods Program;
- Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a government of Canada Reliability status and Secret Level 2/NATO Secret security clearance;
- Must be eligible to meet the requirements for U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
