About the opportunity:

L3Harris is seeking a motivated individual looking for an exciting opportunity to join the team as a Senior Network Engineerin support of the Airservices Australia Enterprise Network Modernization Program (ENMP). The selected candidate will be working on multiple initiatives for L3Harris as the primary contractor. The selected candidate will collaborate with internal and external teams. Work independently on projects from start to finish, including planning and design of the customer premise equipment to support the telecommunications solution for the Enterprise Network Modernisation Program (ENMP) required to implement equipment and services deliverables for the Airservices Australia Network.

The Network Engineer will be responsible for:

  • 3rd level support for troubleshooting and resolving IP backbone and customer routing issues
  • Design, engineer and implement solutions that support customer requirements and critical backbone architecture
  • Create network documentation and training as required for supporting engineering and NOC teams
  • Define and implement best practices for network and capacity management
  • Identify areas of opportunity for automation and network optimization
  • Routinely perform proof of concepts and service trials while documenting system integration
  • Support on-call rotation and planned off hours maintenance events as needed Support development and ownership and operation of Ground stations, SITA CVME
  • Complete IP network design including IP spreadsheets with the network design, network diagrams, device configuration for the system and actual configuration of the switches and firewalls, as well as assisting the VMWare lead on the networking configurations within VMware
  • Perform administrative duties on Cisco Switches and Routers, Palo Alto firewalls, virtual machines (VMware or OpenStack) with both GUI and CLI interaction
  • Perform windows admin, and some limited DNS and Active Directory knowledge
  • Network Monitoring and configuration performed using Broadcom Spectrum for SNMP Traps, polling/history vCenter and ESX server integration for monitoring, SNMP Agent SystemEDGE on all VMs
  • In addition to those duties perform administrative duties on Cisco Switches and Routers, Palo Alto firewalls, EMC VNX, VMware ESX servers, DD670, and EMC RPA devices with both GUI and CLI interaction. Some limited windows or Linux admin, and some limited DNS and Active Directory knowledge

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunication Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Information Systems or equivalent of a 4-year accredited degree in a technical discipline
  • Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 4 years of prior WAN Telecommunications networks experience or 2 years post-Secondary/ associate’s degree and a minimum of 8 years of prior WAN Telecommunications networks experience
  • 8+ years of network engineering experience with IP networks
  • 6+ years of experience in the design, development and implementation of IP and MPLS network architectures.
  • Excellent IP configuration and troubleshooting skills to include PIM, BGP, ISIS, OSPF, EIGRP, HSRP, VPLS, VRFs, L3VPN and Ethernet
  • Experience developing and creating IP Addressing plans
  • Advanced presentation and technical writing experience
  • Strong skill set with Microsoft Office software applications and Visio
  • Highly motivated and capable of developing and following detailed instructions and action plans
  • Ability to work in team environment and is self-directed and self-motivated
  • Project management skills capable of adhering to deadlines and completing tasks per project schedule
  • Domain knowledge of the Telecommunications industry, including carrier services, provisioning terminology, CISCO routers and network infrastructure and IP technologies such as Pseudo Wire and Ethernet switching

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Experience with leading network vendors such as Cisco, Juniper, Fujitsu, Ciena, RAD
  • Experience with database modeling software such as Netbox
  • Familiarity in the following tools and software: AutoCAD, DICE, PDM, ClearQuest
  • Advanced Cisco certifications: CCNP or CCIE
