Job Description:

The Aerojet Rocketdyne Segment of L3Harris is seeking a Senior – Level Deputy Program Manager to join our Huntsville, AL Missile Solutions Sector Hedquarters location. This is an opportunity to support the large solid rocket motor (SRM) stage three program for our prime contractor as it goes through EMD and into subsequent production. 

We need a dynamic leader to achieve program success. This position will help an evolving development program critical to the Segment and will routinely interface directly with customers and internal program team members to ensure effective program execution. This is an exciting opportunity to join an establish team inside the Sentinel business area and work a high-profile program critical to the defense of our nation and our allies.

Candidate must be customer-focused and provide the best, most cost-effective systems or capabilities, within contract bounds, while remaining innovative and agile to achieve the optimal solution. Candidate must be able to operate independently, drive change, and continually seek to manage projects through to completion. This role requires absolute honesty in reporting project status, including risks, corrective actions, along with providing potential solutions. Candidate must be able to direct a technical effort, making clear the objectives of the project at the same time as providing clear assignments & deliverables for each team member. Additionally, the candidate must be able to gauge the overall effort and re-direct questions towards the team (to include the senior leadership team) to quickly iterate or pivot the project to its needed successful completion with all actions resolved. It is important for the candidate to have the ability to estimate, manage cost and integrated schedule, understand earned value management tools, and deliver on commitments. Lasty, the candidate must have the ability to effectively communicate progress and issues to higher-level management, functional discipline leaders (COE’s), the program integrated product team leads, and supporting team members.

Essential Functions

  • Manage projects, tasks or required activities in support of the Sentinel business area, which will include but is not limited to, coordinating and leading technical activities key to the program’s success, performing tasks from the contract statement of work, delegating tasks and making decisions required to close out on assigned activities.
  • Execute in scope activities, managing the contract requirements traceability matrix, and ensuring the provided scope of work is complete within the cost and schedule constraints through using management tools to plan, monitor, and implement correction actions where required.
  • Definition and overall management of the program scope is required, to include building briefings necessary for monthly program reviews, and demonstration to our customers that Aerojet Rocketdyne is the best value supplier for their propulsion needs.
  • Preparation of program plans, coordination of cost estimates, proposals, and management of eared value (EV) for assigned program(s).
  • Ensure effective variance analysis and corrective actions are in place for all cost account managers as well methodical execution of the program’s business rhythm.
  • Support development of cost/schedule estimate proposals for key elements of the program.
  • Up to 25% business travel to customer sites and suppliers to support program objectives.
  • Ability to obtain US Secret Security Clearance. 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of 9 years of relevant program management experience, Graduate Degree with a minimum of 7 years of related program management experience, or 13 years of prior related program management experience in lieu of a degree.

  • 2+ years of EVM/CAM experience.

  • 2+ years’ experience in an operations or production environment supporting hardware.

  • 2+ years proposal experience; writing a basis of estimates and guiding team members across the IPT in creation of defensible bids.

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Experinece running a development program.
  • Proficiency in the use of all basic MS Office tools and therefore be proficient in computer operating systems, MS Outlook, MS Excel (entering formulas, graphing, developing spreadsheets), MS PowerPoint (presentations, storyboard development, logic diagrams), MS Visio (business diagrams and sketches), and MS Word (tables, program plans).
  • Experience with proposal management and bid submission.
  • Aerospace or defense development experience with large solid rocket motors.
  • PMP certification or project management certification.
  • Extensive knowledge of project planning, project control (earned value), project execution, communication, procurement, and quality.
  • Past experience with supporting a major tier 1 defense prime.
  • Negotiation experience on programs north of $100M in contract value.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and application of Risk and Opportunity management, to include familiarity with Risk Arm Connect (ARM).
  • Familiarity with monte carlo assessments and probabilistic cost modeling.
  • Working knowledge of Atlassian tools to include JIRA and Confluence, as well as AIPM.
