Job Summary:
The Quality Technician is responsible for performing detailed inspections of incoming materials and finished products to ensure compliance with quality standards. This role involves maintaining accurate inspection records, collaborating with cross-functional teams to address quality issues, and implementing continuous improvement initiatives. The Quality Technician plays a critical role in upholding product quality and supporting the efficient operation of the Quality department.
Essential Functions:
- Incoming Inspection:
- Perform detailed inspections of incoming materials and components to ensure compliance with quality standards and specifications.
- Document and report any discrepancies or quality issues to the Quality Manager.
- Outgoing Inspection:
- Conduct final inspections of finished products and assemblies to verify they meet customer and regulatory requirements.
- Ensure all documentation, labeling, and packaging meet specified guidelines before shipment.
- Quality Control Procedures:
- Implement and follow established quality control procedures and protocols.
- Assist in developing and updating inspection procedures and checklists as needed.
- Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, test results, and quality-related data.
- Prepare and submit detailed reports on inspection findings, non-conformances, and corrective actions.
- Collaboration and Communication:
- Work closely with production, engineering, and supply chain teams to address quality issues and implement corrective actions.
- Participate in cross-functional meetings and provide input on quality-related matters.
- Process Improvement:
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
- Assist in root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Calibration and Maintenance:
- Ensure inspection instruments and equipment are properly calibrated and maintained.
- Schedule and perform routine calibration checks as required.
- Training and Support:
- Provide training and guidance to production staff on quality standards and inspection techniques.
- Support the Quality Manager in quality-related projects and initiatives.
- Compliance and Audits:
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, company policies, and regulatory requirements.
- Assist in internal and external quality audits and inspections.
Qualifications:
Requires fully proficient job knowledge/skills. Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 6 years of prior relevant experience or 2 years post-Secondary/Associates Degree with a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience.
