Job Description:
L3Harris is seeking a Senior Software Engineering Manager (L6) that can grow a team of software engineers, while advancing their own career in a management role. This leader and motivator interacts with software engineers in planning, designing, testing, and delivery of complex systems. The position involves Supervisor/Managerial responsibilities as well as technical agile Product Owner responsibilities and execution-focused Scrum Master responsibilities.
Essential Functions:
- This position is critical for overseeing and managing various aspects of our software development efforts, including bid management, forecasting, and team leadership. The candidate will attend Agile related events and represent the team in cross functional activities. The successful candidate will also take on responsibilities as the Project Execution Lead, ensuring projects are executed efficiently and effectively.
- Manage Software Engineering staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, planning and training employees
- Coach, counseling, monitor, and appraise staff performance
- Drive engineering process improvements
- Participate in proposals and review cost estimates/proposal packages
- Manage resources to meet program needs through allocation of available personnel or hiring new personnel
- Manage engineering contracts and overhead budgets monthly and identify hiring needs to staff the programs effectively
- Make moderate to substantial improvements to processes, systems, and solutions
- Perform other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications:
- Active U.S. DoD TS security clearance (with SCI or ability to obtain), which requires U.S. citizenship
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related field with a minimum of 12 years of relevant experience
- Master’s Degree Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related field with a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience
- In lieu of a degree, minimum of 16 years of prior related experience.
- Demonstrated industry experience with Supervisor/Managerial and agile Product Owner responsibilities
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related field
- Demonstrated supervisory/managerial experience leading and mentoring resources in software engineering
- Demonstrated experience with Aerospace/DoD programs
- Demonstrated experience programming in 2 or more languages such as C/C++, Java, Python, or Rust
- Demonstrated experience with agile Product Owner responsibilities using Scrum, Scaled Agile, or similar agile methodologies
- Demonstrated experience with forecasting and staff planning in an Aerospace/DoD contracting context
- Demonstrated experience with advanced COMINT, signal processing, geolocation, and/or COMINT algorithms
- Demonstrated experience with modern software engineering tools and technologies such as Git/GitLab, Jenkins, RESTful APIs, pub-sub architectures, DDS, NATS, and/or microservices
- Demonstrated the capacity to effectively foster team building
- Demonstrated presentation skills with the ability to present complex topics to technical and non-technical audiences at various levels
