L3Harris in Farnborough specialises in secure ground and airborne communication and network systems for the military, international forces and commercial customers. We engineer and maintain night vision goggles, radar systems and tactical radios. The L3Harris Falcon family of radios delivers network-centric communications for superior command and control, real-time voice, data, full-motion HD video and crossbanding for mission-critical communications in a single, integrated platform. Notably, we are the proud designer, supplier and maintainer of the 50,000 tactical radios in the Bowman tactical C4I system in service with the UK Armed Forces and are working to define and deliver the next generation system, Morpheus.

We are looking for a Manufacturing Technician to join our Operations Department. The role will require the ability to troubleshoot to component level using Automatic Test Equipment (ATE), circuit diagrams and debug software. You will report directly to the Operations Manager and will be responsible for Fault Finding to component level on both RF modules and complex CCA’s, performing assembly/test of highly complex assemblies used in military communications, conduct Special to Type Equipment (STTE) acceptance and/or qualification and/or type tests.

What the role will involve

The responsibilities of your role will include the following:

• Working closely with internal departments, such as Operations engineering and testing.
• Use of Automated Test Equipment (ATE) for the test of product.
• Use electronic systems to track repairs and update correctly.
• Check Assemblies meet quality standards and seek advice from supervisor or Manufacturing Engineer as necessary.
• Work with other Cell members using lean manufacturing techniques and participate in lean production activities.
• Work to daily targets, in line with customer requirements.
• Work to defined processes and work instructions
• Assist Supervisors, undertaking any reasonable task as directed.

What you’ll bring

The role requires the following experience and skills:

• Broad knowledge of component level troubleshooting.
• Understand schematics to aid in troubleshooting problems.
• Complex fault diagnosis.
