Job Title: Specialist, Systems Engineer

Job Code: 43992

Job Location: Colorado Springs, CO

Job Schedule: 9/80 (Employees work 9 out of every 14 days- totaling 80 hours worked- Every Other Friday Off)

Job Description:

As a Specialist, Systems Engineer, you will contribute to a diverse technical team on the NSTTC-O Range Control System (RCS) program, supporting the 98th Space Range Squadron under a SAFe 6.0 Agile Release Train. This position sits within the Space & Airborne Systems (SAS) division, working alongside program leadership, subcontractor teams, and government stakeholders to deliver a mission-critical range control and data conditioning capability.

In this role, you will own a portfolio of core systems engineering documentation and configuration control artifacts that anchor the technical baseline of the program — including the Interface Control Document (ICD), the Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) model, and support to the Engineering Review Board (ERB), Configuration Control Board (CCB), and Discrepancy Review Board (DRB). You will work closely with the Chief Systems Engineer and cross-functional leads in Infrastructure, Cybersecurity, and Operations (InfraSecOps), DevOps, Integration and Test (DIT), Platform and Conditioning, as well as our Visualization team to keep interfaces, requirements, and the architectural model consistent, traceable, and audit-ready.

Essential Functions:

  • Own, author, and maintain the Interface Control Document (ICD), ensuring interface definitions remain accurate, versioned, and traceable to the requirements baseline and the MBSE model.
  • Develop, maintain, and mature the program's Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) model (e.g., Cameo Systems Modeler, SysML v1/v2) as the authoritative representation of system architecture, interfaces, and behavior.
  • Prepare technical packages and represent Systems Engineering at the Engineering Review Board (ERB), Configuration Control Board (CCB), and Discrepancy Review Board (DRB), including change impact analysis and disposition tracking.
  • Support Functional Configuration Audit (FCA) and Physical Configuration Audit (PCA) activities, ensuring documentation and model artifacts align with delivered baselines.
  • Participate in Agile execution within a SAFe Agile Release Train — including PI Planning, backlog refinement, and feature/story-level requirements decomposition — in coordination with the Product Owner and Chief Systems Engineer.
  • Author and maintain requirements in accordance with INCOSE requirements writing guidance, ensuring "shall" statement quality, traceability, and verification method assignment.
  • Coordinate across functional groups (Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, InfraSecOps, Data Conditioning, Visualization) to negotiate interface and design solutions.
  • Support development and maintenance of DoD systems engineering artifacts (SEP, SEMP, TEMP, CMP, DMP) as required by the program's contract and governance model.
  • Coordinate with government customers, subcontractors (e.g., SAIC/Koverse, Anduril/SPySE), and other contractor teams in a collaborative, government range environment.
  • Support System Installation and integration efforts, including coordination with procurement and logistics for hardware and software delivery.
  • Possess strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to isolate root cause across system, interface, and requirements issues.
  • Maintain strong attention to detail and organizational discipline across concurrent documentation, board, and model-maintenance activities.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or adjacent fields and a minimum of 4 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of prior related experience.
  • Active Top Secret Clearance

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Demonstrated experience authoring and maintaining Interface Control Documents (ICDs) on a DoD or government program.
  • Hands-on MBSE modeling experience (Cameo Systems Modeler, SysML v1 and/or v2, or equivalent MBSE tooling).
  • Experience supporting or chairing configuration and technical governance boards (ERB, CCB, DRB) including change request evaluation and disposition.
  • Working knowledge of the DoD Systems Engineering Technical Review process and System Development Life Cycle, with familiarity with DoD 5000 series guidance.
  • Experience with DoD Systems Engineering artifacts: SEP, SEMP, TEMP, CMP, DMP.
  • Working knowledge of the INCOSE requirements writing guide and requirements quality/traceability best practices.
  • Experience operating within a SAFe Agile Release Train or equivalent Agile framework.
