Job Description:
The Missile Solutions of L3Harris is currently seeking an experienced Senior Specialist, Project Engineer. This role will be located out of our Space Propulsion and Power Systems facility in Canoga Park, CA.
The Project Engineer/Component Product Engineer (CPE) will assist in executing all phases of day-to-day tactical duties on assigned propulsion programs while driving project action to achieve operational and financial objectives. Duties include working with customer contacts for project activities, participating in sessions with customers for assigned aspects of project execution, and providing support for production and supply chain teams to ensure on time and on budget efforts.
Essential Functions:
- Perform tasks under the guidance of a Senior IPT Leader on the Combustion Devices Team supporting a rocket engine development program.
- Works under consultative direction with minimal oversight and has responsibility for project or processes within the functional program management area.
- Responsible for the end-to-end manufacturing and delivery of critical combustion devices hardware.
- Support customer briefings, technical issues, failure investigations, improvement projects, creating technical plans, and non-conformance resolutions.
- Support of the engineering, manufacturing and supplier management teams. Additional duties will include performing technical analysis as well as conceptualizing new product designs.
- Provide development engineering support towards design, analysis, fabrication and hot fire test validation of combustion devices products.
- Responsible for briefing management and supporting program managers for briefing customers on all facets of assigned projects.
- Up to 10% business travel to suppliers and other production sites.
- Must have the ability to obtain a US LEVEL Secret security clearance.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 6 years of prior relevant project engineering experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related project engineering experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior related project engineering experience.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Understanding of various engineering and manufacturing processes such as design, product specifications, 3D Printing, welding, brazing, machining, tooling, etc.
- Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written) with contacts within and outside the organization (e.g. customers, suppliers, etc.) for execution of the project objectives.
- Understands propulsion system technical drawings and specifications.
- Experience with Government Propulsion customers and prime contractors.
In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in the state of California is $106,500 - $197,500. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
