Job Description:
We are seeking an Associate Manager, Quality – Metrology and Precision Measurement to lead measurement and calibration activities at our Canoga Park, CA facility. This role is responsible for managing the metrology function, ensuring the accuracy, reliability, and compliance of measurement systems and instruments used in manufacturing and quality operations.
The Associate Manager will provide technical and people leadership for quality engineers deeply involved in precision measurement and calibration activities. This position will work closely with manufacturing, engineering, quality, and other cross-functional teams to support product quality, process effectiveness, and continuous improvement initiatives.
The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of quality systems (AS9100) and process control combined with deep technical expertise in metrology and precision measurement. This includes familiarity with ISO 17025, GD&T, Measurement Systems Analysis and knowledge of how measurements are translated from tool to human.
Essential Functions:
- Ensure compliance with internal quality requirements, customer requirements, and applicable industry and regulatory standards, including ISO 17025.
- Lead and manage metrology, calibration, and measurement system activities to ensure the accuracy and reliability of inspection and test equipment.
- Develop, implement, and maintain calibration and inspection processes, procedures, and systems to support manufacturing and quality control operations.
- Lead continuous improvement of best practice inspection methodologies and integrate within the Quality Management System (AS9100).
- Participate in root cause and corrective action activities, failure investigations, metrics creation and quality improvement projects.
- Review and analyze measurement data, calibration results, and system performance trends; provide technical direction, reports, and recommendations.
- Partner with cross-functional teams including manufacturing, engineering, operations, and quality to resolve measurement-related issues and support production needs.
- Plan and prioritize departmental workload, staffing, and resources to meet business objectives and customer commitments.
- Mentor and develop team members to strengthen technical capability and process rigor.
- Ability to obtain a US LEVEL security clearance.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of 6 years of prior related quality experience. Graduate Degree with a minimum of 4 years of prior related quality experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior related quality experience.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Knowledge of industry standards and regulatory requirements related to measurement, calibration (ISO 17025) and quality systems (AS9100).
- Strong understanding of measurement principles, uncertainty, calibration methods and measurement system analysis.
- Failure investigation, root cause and corrective action processes.
- Nonconformance reporting and the Material Review Board (MRB) process.
- Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) techniques.
- Experience with Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs) and Standard Measuring Inspection equipment.
- Experience supporting audit activities and maintaining compliance documentation.
- Ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and influence stakeholders across the organization.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Demonstrated project management skills, including the ability to plan, prioritize, coordinate resources, and drive initiatives to successful completion.
- Configuration management best practices.
- Computer systems and applicable software programs such as Microsoft Office suite .
In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in California is $96,000 - $178.000. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
