L3Harris in Bristol/Burgess Hill/Barrow provides warship automation systems through control and simulation solutions that are in service on Albion Class Landing Platform Docks and Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carriers. More systems are being developed and delivered for Type 26 and Type 31 Frigates.
Responsible for leading the FP&A team providing financial forecasts, the annual indirect budgeting process, annual operating plan, variance analysis and special projects / ad hoc requests. Reporting into the Head of Finance, this role will provide business level presentations, financial presentations and financial analysis that facilitates effective business decision making.

What the role will involve
The responsibilities of your role will include the following:
- Lead for Business unit financial reporting requirements, both routine and non-routine.
- Strong understanding of advanced financial planning and analysis concepts and able to articulate this to management
- Owns the preparation of the Business Unit monthly short-term forecast (STF) and Annual Operating Plan forecast, accompanied with detailed supporting schedules
- A clear understanding of indirect rate development / modeling and solid experience with rate variance analysis
- Analyse Business Unit level financial forecasts and provide Business Unit Management with independent assessment of projected performance against plan targets
- Support the development of Internal Programme Reviews and ad hoc Senior Management presentations
- Prepare meaningful variance analysis of actual versus forecast financial performance
- Establish and monitor Indirect functional department budgets, indirect rate forecasts and estimate inclusive therein
- Oversee the development and implementation of sophisticated financial models, forecasting tools and dashboards to improve process efficiencies and financial performance
- Analyse trends in orders, sales, cost of sales, profit and cash and provide recommendations to Senior Management in support of strategic business decisions
- Serve as the primary POC to co-ordinate accurate and timely submissions of all related Business Unit standard and ad hoc reports / data requests
What you’ll bring
The role requires the following experience and skills:
- Qualified Accountant (ACCA, ACMA etc), with minimum of 5 years post qualification experience
- Solid understanding of accounting and finance principles, single source accounting knowledge a bonus
- Must have at least five plus years in a similar role within the government contracting industry and/or a combination of progressive financial experience in a similar role within a related industry
