About the role
L3Harris in Eight Mile Plains is The Centre of Excellence for Electronic Warfare and is home to world-leading design, manufacture and integration expertise and the sustainment of high-reliability electronic warfare components. Our highly skilled workforce design and develop Australia’s sovereign defence capabilities such as the next-generation space, airborne and cyber capabilities for the Australian warfighter.
As the Supervisor of RF and Electronics Technicians, you’ll lead a skilled technical team to ensure all work is completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with company policies, procedures, and standards. You’ll maintain day-to-day operational control over departmental activities, driving performance across safety, quality, delivery, cost, and environmental objectives.
What the role will involve
The responsibilities of your role will include the following:
- Supervise and support a team of RF and electronics technicians, fostering accountability, teamwork, and technical excellence.
- Coach, train, and develop team members to achieve clear goals and demonstrate the behaviours required for success.
- Apply technical expertise to investigate and resolve product and production challenges.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet production targets and company objectives.
- Contribute to the design and engineering process, particularly in test and tune methodologies, through participation in design and production readiness reviews.
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement by identifying, developing, and implementing process enhancements.
- Oversee calibration and maintenance of production equipment to support production schedules.
- Perform test and tune processes on L3Harris SASA-manufactured products when required.
What you’ll bring
The role requires the following experience and skills:
- Completion of a tertiary technical qualification (e.g. Advanced Diploma or equivalent).
- Technical trade qualification in electronics or equivalent experience.
- Certification in IPC-A-610 or equivalent MIL-STD standard.
- Minimum of 8 years’ experience in a technical electronics manufacturing role.
- Supervisory experience managing teams of 10–15 people.
- Knowledge of RF products and test/tune processes, ideally within an Electronic Warfare (EW) environment.
- Training in Lean Manufacturing fundamentals or continuous improvement practices.
- Experience in AS9100, ISO 45001, and ISO 14001 compliant production environments.
- Competence using spreadsheet and ERP software applications.
- Excellent time management, people management, and communication skills.
