Job Description:
The Maritime Sector Planning & Inventory Director is responsible for leading and overseeing all material planning and inventory operations for all Maritime programs and all material across the Maritime Sector’s four divisions and 20+ sites, reporting to the Sr. Director Maritime Supply Chain. The Director will work cross-functionally to ensure the seamless execution of end-to-end material planning processes, the effective and efficient use of MRP systems, as well as ensure material is proactively planned, ordered, received, stored, and issued to the manufacturing line to support manufacturing need dates, master schedule attainment, and customer on-time delivery. The Director will also oversee each site’s inventory and logistics processes to ensure inventory accuracy, effective support of production, as well as accountability for government property.
The Director will be responsible for developing a world-class team of supply chain professionals through staffing, training, and talent management initiatives. The individual will also maintain responsibility for succession planning, as well as organizational and talent development. The Director will be responsible for supply chain “Return to Green” initiatives while ensuring all activities are thoroughly communicated with all stakeholders as well as the executive leadership team. Other critical activities include leading the organization in the development and implementation of operating philosophies and business strategies, developing, implementing, and sustaining success metrics. This individual is responsible for developing the strategy, vision, and driving performance of all material planning and inventory functions resulting in superior cost and schedule performance leading to strong internal/external customer satisfaction.
Essential Functions:
- Provide strategic direction for material planning & inventory processes, ensuring alignment with overall operational goals and objectives.
- Oversee the implementation of material strategies and effective management of purchasing requisitions.
- Manage and lead the Sector’s Material Planning & Inventory team, providing guidance, mentorship, and professional development opportunities.
- Ensures a high level of inventory accuracy through an effective cycle count program as well as meet all MMAS requirements.
- Ensure the maintenance of key planning parameters and oversee the operation of the Sector’s MRP systems, ensuring data integrity, accurate and reliable output, and proactively addressing “action” messages
- Engage with cross-functional teams to define project timelines, supply chain objectives, and execution strategies as well as proactively manage due-date and shortage issues.
- Develop, monitor, and manage key operational and Supply Chain metrics
- Actively facilitate the Sector’s SIOP processes, contributing expertise in material supply-related activities.
- Foster a collaborative and high-performance culture within the cross-functional team to drive continuous improvement initiatives related to material planning & inventory to deliver world-class performance.
Required Qualifications
- U.S. Citizen
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, operations management, supply chain management, or other technical discipline with minimum of 15 years of Material Planning and Inventory Management experience with 6+ years in a leadership capacity; SIOP experience. Minimum of 13 years’ experience with a graduate degree.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to communicate, influence, and lead across multiple levels, teams, and business units.
- Change agent and leader who can help transform the organization and maintain a high level of engagement.
- Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills with strong organizational and time management abilities, capable of managing multiple priorities and meeting deadlines.
- Leads process improvement initiatives with little to no direction and supervision.
- Proven experience in leading high performing teams.
- Ability to manage change in an organization, reengineering its culture and approach to workload management.
- Must have advanced computer skills and an in-depth understanding and knowledge of ERP, MRP, and inventory management systems, SAP S4Hana a plus.
- Ability to travel periodically; expected to be no more than 30%
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Master’s degree in a related field, or MBA, desired.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to interact with all levels of management.
- Excellent analytical and organizational skills.
- Experience in supply chain management in the Aerospace and Defense industry.
- Six Sigma, Lean, or APICS certification; CPIM certification highly desired.
In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role is $144,000-268,000. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
