Our heritage of technological innovation in Florida dates back to 1950, and we have been based in Melbourne since 1978. Today, L3Harris is the only major aerospace and defense company headquartered in the state.

Palm bay

Our 464,000-square-foot High Technology Center in Palm Bay serves as a hub for engineering innovation. It includes a high-bay facility where we manufacture unfurlable mesh reflector antennas sized from 2 to 25 meters, which are mounted on satellites to provide reliable, high-capacity, space-based communications.

We operate a maritime test tank on our Palm Bay campus that helps us more quickly and efficiently develop innovative marine technology, including autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs). We’re also constructing two new buildings on site — a low-earth orbit satellite facility to produce satellite constellations focused on national defense interests, and a microelectronics facility to support unique, advanced manufacturing technologies.

WEST PALM BEACH

In West Palm Beach, we produce the RL10 rocket engine that powers the upper stages of NASA’s Space Launch System rocket, as well as United Launch Alliance’s Atlas V and Vulcan rockets. The RL10 has propelled missions to every planet in the solar system.

Our West Palm Beach site also builds turbopumps for the RS-25 rocket engine. In addition, the facility is home to the L3Harris hypersonic propulsion center of excellence.

Over the past two decades, L3Harris has built, maintained and upgraded Florida’s Statewide Law Enforcement Radio System (SLERS), which provides reliable, resilient connectivity for thousands of radios in law enforcement vehicles, boats and aircraft across the state.

We also deliver MyFloridaNet-2 (MFN-2), a communications network available for state government and other eligible users including county and city governments, water management districts, public school districts, private K-12 schools, libraries, universities, community colleges and non-profit organizations.

To support our public safety radio customers in Florida and across North America, we maintain a Network Operations Center in Orlando that is staffed around the clock by professionally trained technicians who can quickly identify network disruptions and take the necessary actions to minimize impact and keep first responders seamlessly connected.

L3Harris serves warfighters here in Florida and around the world, including U.S. Central Command, U.S. Special Operations Command, the U.S. Space Force’s Space Launch Delta 45 and the U.S. Navy.
