Job Description:
We have multiple positions available for Space Propulsion Assembly Mechanic B's to work at our West Palm Beach, FL facility. These positions are for 2nd Shift.
Position level will be filled based on education and experience of identified candidate.
This posting may represent one or more specific immediate or near-term openings. Those who express an interest may be considered for current and future positions.
Essential Functions:
- Perform a variety of duties to assemble, mount, and test development and production space propulsion systems, components, and rigs.
- Under direction of supervision or higher grade mechanic, work from procedures, drawings/prints, work instructions and specifications while interfacing with engineering to meet balancing, assembling, mounting, and testing requirements on new or development hardware. Assist in the cleaning, assembly, setup and pressure testing of components, rigs and facilities.
- Where method of work is specified, follow established procedures/work instructions or work with higher grade mechanic to operate and maintain various support equipment, making simple modifications as required.
- Regularly work with mechanics hand tools and specialty tools on light to medium weight parts. Occasionally work in an awkward or strained position using manual or mechanically assisted devises.
- Work with methods and operations engineers to assist in devising and developing improved tooling and process changes in both the assembly and test processes. Occasionally participate in investigations by analyzing data, diagnosing problems and recommending solutions.
- Audit records, analyze and compute data and maintain logs to assure compliance to departmental procedures and customer requirements.
- Comply with Federal & State Environmental and Safety regulations, as well as conform to Company guidelines and procedures for operation of both test facilities and space propulsion systems in assembly areas.
- Perform other related work of a comparable or lower skill level as required or directed by higher-grade mechanic/supervision in support of department objectives.
In addition to the typical duties listed above, this position also requires:
- Providing assistance in the handling and distribution of liquids, steam, cryogenics and high pressure gases.
- Performing routine calibrations, maintaining facilities and complying with area Safety and Environmental requirements.
- Maintaining logs and records as required.
- Occasional travel to off-site customer locations to perform service bulletin.
- Referring difficulties or unusual situations to leader/supervisor.
Requirements:
- Requires Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) License.
- Requires 1-3 years direct experience.
- Requires High School Diploma or equivalent.
Starting pay is $39.45 per hour, but can vary based upon experience.
