Job Description:
L3Harris has an opening for a Space Operator in Springfield, VA to join a dynamic team that is working hard to develop cutting edge solutions that advance the customers space operations mission. Our team is tight-knit, collaborative and mission focused. We are regularly asked to develop operational solutions to meet unique and never before attempted mission objectives. We train on, operate, and develop operational processes for cutting edge tools and support the requirements definition of future tools. We routinely generate mission focus analysis and communication with multiple internal and external stakeholders. We are looking for operators who lean forward to not only identify issues but work with the team to propose solutions and implement improvements. Ability to thrive in a dynamic and ever-changing work environment is preferred in addition to the required experience below, our ideal candidate needs to demonstrate exceptional personal initiative and the ability to maintain composure and a good attitude in a demanding operational environment.
This position supports 24x7 operations and requires shift work. Opportunities for advancement include non-shift work positions.
Essential Functions:
- Support programs by creating models, simulations, and analysis tools to real-time satellite operations.
- Support Launch and Early Orbit checkout and anomaly resolution teams as required.
- Operations support includes attending Daily Operations Stand-up meetings, shift changeover meetings, inputs to monthly in-progress reviews.
- Support onboarding of new and enhanced tools.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 4 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of prior related experience.
- Active Top-Secret clearance with CI Poly required.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Experience in supporting or working on operations teams.
- Experience in working in satellite operations environment.
- Experience in working with orbital state data and associated tools (STK, MATLAB, Freeflyer, or similar).
- Experience with software languages for scripting, modeling, simulations, and data transfers including Python and PERL.
- Experience with Microsoft Office suite programs, MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
