Job Description:
The Field Technician will be the primary field technician for the Nevada Shared Radio System (NSRS) for Radio Frequency (RF) site and dispatch console installation, implementation, commissioning, warranty, maintenance.
Essential Functions:
- Perform RF site install, configuration setup, end-to-end system alignment, commissioning, line-sweeps, testing and fault diagnosis during implementation on operational Land Mobile Radio (LMR) networks (P25), with the aid of PC-based programs, schematics and other system design packages and drawings.
- Radio Programming, repairing, and Installation of mobile and portable radios, antennas and accessories, perform unit swap and associated tests in a variety of vehicles.
- Perform mounting, cabling, initial set-up and testing of site equipment, fault isolation and replacement at the unit level. Complete test records, fault reports, and all other project related documentation and forward to installation supervisor.
- Ensure that safety practices are being followed at all times, maintain and preserve company owned equipment and ensure it is kept in good repair at all times.
- Provide technical assistance to programs team, customers and co-workers requiring telephone or on-site support.
- May work outside regularly scheduled hours to meet operational needs, and to respond to after-hours emergency calls as well as “on call” availability including working with centralized control centers.
- Required state of Nevada (Reno) travel between 25%-40% with a valid driver’s license.
Qualifications:
- HS Diploma or equivalent with 6 years prior experience with LMR, telecommunications networking or RF OR 2 year post-secondary/AA Degree and 2 years prior experience
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Experience with trunked radio
- Experience with customer presentations and communications
- CCNA, CCNP, A+, MCP, or MCDST certifications
- Experience with communication systems infrastructure such as Tower Construction, Antenna Systems Installation and Testing, Shelter Construction and Installation (HVAC, Electrical, UPS and DC Power Systems), Generators, Transfer Switches and Fuel systems, Alarm sensors and interfacing to the communications system for SCADA remote monitoring. Grounding systems – installation, testing and configurations, Lightning Protection systems.
