L3Harris in Portchester are the maritime industry’s autonomy partner of choice, we are powering the Royal Navy’s adoption of autonomous surface vehicle technology as well as delivering autonomous capability to UK ports, harbours and offshore energy service providers. We have delivered more than 100 autonomous surface vehicle (ASV) systems.
The individual will work in a fast-paced environment with high expectations, global scope, and a collaborative team setting. Provide technical and engineering participation on the corporate data network and secure environments. As the Portchester site lead, you will be expected to have the communication and skills required to lead medium to large scale infrastructure, applications, and security projects consisting of IT and functional business area resources.

What the role will involve
The responsibilities of your role will include the following:
- Providing technical expertise and support in troubleshooting issues and optimizing performance.
- Administer VMWare vSphere/vCenter environments, Nutanix Environments, Microsoft Windows Servers, Active Directory, System Centre Configuration Manager (SCCM), VDI, DHCP, DNS, Print & File Servers
- Install, configure, and manage hyper-converged systems.
- Participate in on-call support, scheduled weekend outages, and disaster recovery activities as required
- Respond to Cyber Security incidents and proactively engage with relevant stakeholders.
- Manage technical projects to improve and extend the infrastructure and respond to business needs.
- Document all procedures and installs of new products.
- Prepare and present training information to technical staff and user personnel.
What you’ll bring
The role requires the following experience and skills:
- Minimum of 5 to 7 years’ experience in a similar role
- Recent related experience in the administration of Windows systems and servers and experience in the administration of Linux systems and servers
- Significant recent working knowledge of VMware, VDI, ESXi, or a VMware certification (VCP, VCP-DV)
- Relevant experience in automation with PowerShell or PowerCLI
- Exposure and working knowledge of disaster recovery, back-up, storage and system security tools knowledge (i.e. Symantec, Cohesity, Nutanix, etc)
- Basic network fundamentals: TCP/UDP, switching, routing (layers 1-7)
- Commitment to maintaining the highest standard of customer service is essential with outstanding oral and written communication
- Strong problem-solving and trouble-shooting skills
- Ability to work in fast paced environments and adapt quickly to changing situations
- Ability/desire to learn new skills and technologies as required
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Experience with Nutanix and Cohesity
- Experience with Azure & AWS
- Knowledge and application of ITIL concepts, or an ITIL v3 certification
- Project Management or project leadership experience
