Job Description:
The 2nd Class Electrician will be responsible for performing all duties required to layout, fabricate, and install electrical wiring or coaxial cable. Checks, tests, and troubleshoots electrical systems for conformance to specifications and performs repair, removal, and reinstallation of wiring as necessary. Cuts wires to length, strips insulation from wire ends, and insulates connections with plastic sleeves. Attaches wire or complicated electrical systems to fixtures and accessories such as transformers, instrument panels, and switchboards with fasteners such as bolts, screws, or solder. May monitor and verify quality in accordance with statistical process or other control procedures.
Essential Functions:
- Must possess skills and abilities to perform the requirements of a shipboard or airframe electrician’s trade with little supervision or guidance.
- Expected to know how to read and interpret drawings, specifications, technical manuals, design notices, etc.
- Must know and understand the use of all tools of their trade such as multi-meters, pin crimpers, soldering and expected to accomplish the non-complex tasks associated with electrical installations of cable, military circular connectors, panel box and power terminations, etc.
- Able to provide your own hand tools specific to the trade.
- Must be willing and able to travel up to 30%.
- Ablility to obtain and maintain a DoD Clearance.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Qualifications:
- Requires fully proficient job knowledge and skills typically obtain through a combination of education and experience.
- High School Diploma or equivalent with six (6) years of prior experience to inclue at least three (3) years of electrical experience installing cable through shipboard cableways, performing terminations on military and commercial crimp and soldering type connectors/connections.
- U.S citizenship required.
