Job Description:
Reporting directly to the Senior Director, Strategy, Integrated Mission Systems Segment, this position is responsible for leading strategy development for segment-level Business Development priorities to increase profitable growth in an increasingly fast-paced and dynamic global Aerospace and Defense market. Bridging from and aligning to segment-level strategic initiatives, focus areas include go-to-market as well as segment-level BD campaigns and pursuits.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Work effectively with senior leadership from business development, segment strategy, and key functions (e.g. Engineering, Government Relations)
- Conduct market assessment to identify potential new areas to increase new business pipeline for the Annual Operating Plan (AOP) and projecting forward over the strategic plan time horizon (~3 years), presenting for leadership decision
- For identified segment-level BD priorities, conduct options assessment and deliver data-based recommendations for path forward; upon decision to proceed, transition to BD lead, who will initiate Common Capture Process
- Participate in initial gates (0,1) for leadership-approved segment-level priority BD campaigns and pursuits to ensure strategic alignment and prioritization
- Deliver timely, accurate and actionable insights on customer analysis and competitive assessment in support of win strategy development for priority BD campaigns and pursuits, working with sector BD and market analysts
- Excel at translation of detailed information into creation and delivery of executive level presentations that drive leadership decisions
- Coordinate with staff from other L3Harris segments as necessary
- Other items as directed by the IMS Senior Director, Strategy
Qualifications:
- U.S. citizen with a bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 15 years of prior experience in the aerospace and defense industry, management consulting, business development, or strategic planning, or a Graduate degree and a minimum of 13 years of experience.In lieu of a degree, minimum of 19 years of prior related experience.
- Disciplined, self-starting professional who can bring projects to closure with minimal guidance and oversight in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities
- Proven skills gathering and synthesizing data from disparate, qualitative and quantitative sources into conclusive recommendations
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills (written and presentation) and an exquisite attention to detail
- Advanced skills with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel and PowerPoint, with proven ability to create executive-level presentations
- Must be able to travel
Preferred Additional Skills/Qualifications:
- Working knowledge of defense, aerospace, intelligence, and adjacent markets
- Experience working with US government acquisition “accelerators” such as the Defense Innovation Unit (DIU), as well as other technology innovation entities (e.g. DARPA, Service Labs)
- Agile Development, Rapid Prototyping and Emerging Technology implementation involvement
- Experience in International Aerospace & Defense market
- Familiarity with industry-specific research tools (e.g. Federal Procurement Data System (FPDS), Janes, DACIS, Bloomberg Government)
- Experience with enterprise CRM tools (e.g., Microsoft Dynamics) and dashboards (Microsoft PowerBI, Tableau)
- An Active US security clearance or the ability to obtain one
