Job Description:
The Environmental Lab Supervisor will play an essential role in maintaining the integrity and efficiency of our testing processes during the weekend shift. This pivotal role involves guiding the team, resolving operational challenges, and ensuring the seamless execution of environmental testing processes. The ideal candidate will be adept at managing multiple tasks while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail. Essential Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership and coaching to the lab personnel, fostering a collaborative and efficient work environment.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for all lab-related matters on the weekend shift, ensuring smooth operations and timely resolution of issues.
- Perform environmental testing. (i.e. ESS, Immersion, Group C, Reliability, etc.)
- Keep detailed records of personnel and provide periodic feedback for subordinates, including recognition for strengths and opportunities for improvements. Write and present annual performance reviews.
- Exhibit strong management skills, including team supervision, data compilation, and the ability to multitask effectively while collaborating with cross-functional teams to achieve organizational goals.
- Oversee environmental testing procedures, ensuring they are conducted in accordance with L3Harris product specifications, test plans, work instructions, and industry standards.
- Ensure that all lab activities support L3Harris business objectives and are carried out in compliance with company policy and accepted standards of practice.
- Maintain accurate records of all environmental tests conducted and ensure documentation complies with relevant regulations and standards.
- Implement continuous improvement strategies to enhance lab efficiency, reduce waste, and optimize resource utilization.
- Conduct regular training sessions to keep the team updated on the latest testing techniques and safety protocols.
- Monitor the calibration and maintenance of lab equipment to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
- Collaborate with the quality assurance team to address nonconformities promptly.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 6 years of prior related experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.) is highly desirable.
- Experience with root cause analysis and problem-solving methodologies, with a demonstrated ability to identify issues and drive towards resolution.
- Lean Six Sigma certifications are advantageous, indicating a commitment to process improvement and quality management.
- A thorough understanding of manufacturing processes and measurement systems, which is critical for overseeing lab activities and ensuring accurate testing outcomes.
- Familiarity with continuous improvement practices, utilizing them to enhance lab operations and contribute to the company's efficiency and quality goals.
- Experience with military standard test procedures (MIL-STD-810), with a successful history of environmental testing and quality control.
- Demonstrates a solid grasp of management fundamentals, including work scheduling, prioritization, coaching, and process execution.
