Job Description:
The Optical Alignment Technician is responsible for performing start to finish optical alignment tasks as directed in contracts and specifications. This position will set-up and properly operate various alignment equipment (Theodolites, Clinometers, Laser Tracker, AIDS, TAS, and DIDS) in accordance to prescribed methods.
Essential Functions:
- Understanding of the requirements of SW225-AO-MMA-010/OP762/ALIGN THEORY, Theory of Combat System Alignment or equal.
- Demonstrate the difference between different equipment’s and being able to use them in different circumstances.
- Understand requirements for isolating and tagging of electrical systems according to Standard Item 009-24.
- Familiar with various terms relating to foundation flatness, roller-path, parallelism, and co-planer requirements by reviewing the referenced foundation drawings.
- Demonstrate in-depth knowledge on centerline transfers, roller-path determinations using sine curves.
- Operate equipment to demonstrate either proper function or to analyze discrepancies using data obtained during various stages of the Combat Systems alignment.
- Demonstrate knowledge of where to find the alignment requirements.
- Use of precision alignment and measuring equipment such as Laser Tracker, Clinometers, Theodolites, or Total stations.
- MS Office (Excel and Outlook)
- Able to obtain and maintain a DoD Clearance.
- Travel is required up to 70% (Domestic) 2-4 weeks at a time.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma with six (6) years of Optical Alignment experience.
- OR 2 years post-Secondary/associates degree with two (2) years of Optical Alignment experience. A combination of education and experience will be considered.
- Must be a US Citizen.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Performing a Combat Systems Alignment verification.
- Formal Certification of training or equal for the theory, use of equipment, and performance of Optical Alignments.
