Job Description:
This position is for a Linux Systems Administrator supporting Agile Software Development Engineering teams. The position requires the ability to perform multi-disciplined administration in secure lab and isolated network environments. The Linux Systems Administrator will participate in roadmap, architecture, implementation, and sustainment of operational network infrastructures supporting software teams. Candidate must be a self-motivated team player with excellent technical and communication skills.
Essential Functions:
- Integrate with a team of multidiscipline, multileveled Systems Administrators supporting Linux, Windows, and Network operations
- Assist Software Engineers by providing Linux infrastructure services in support of development efforts
- Partner with Information Security team to provide secure, auditable Linux systems
- Plan and document operational processes, configurations, and diagrams required for management, Security operations, and the software teams
- Coach, mentor, and train new team members
- Assist leadership with business decisions demonstrating and safeguarding the company by assuring that applicable laws and policies are followed
Qualifications:
- Linux server and workstation systems administration on Red Hat based distributions (RHEL9, RHEL8, RHEL7, Rocky8, CentOS7) to include
- Break/fix troubleshooting
- Provisioning via Satellite, Kickstart, or Forman
- Network infrastructure services setup and maintenance of DNS, DHCP
- Network storage services setup and maintenance of NFS, automounts, SMB/Samba
- Privilege escalation management
- Shell scripting in sh/bash or csh/tcsh
- Must have very good analytical skills
- Able to obtain and maintain a DoD Security Clearance, which requires U.S. Citizenship.
- B.S. degree in Computer Science or related field and minimum 4 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of prior related experience.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- System hardening and auditing to RMF, CMMC, DFARS, NIST 800-171, NIST 800-53
- Configuration management with Ansible/Ansible Automation Platform, AWX, puppet, or chef
- Centralized authentication setup and user/group management (FreeIPA, IDM, Kerberos, LDAP, NIS)
- Code repository administration of git, GitLab, GitHub, SVN
- Scripting in modern languages python, perl
- Basic network administration of layer 2/3 switches
- Supporting multi-OS environments of Linux, Windows, Solaris, and embedded OS’s
- Knowledge of DevOps tools (Kubernetes , OpenShift, TeamCity, Docker, Jenkins)
- Experience in building/utilizing CI/CD pipelines
- Experience with cloud platforms
- Certifications RHCSA, RHCE, RHCSS, RHCDS, Security+, CISSP, CISM,
- Deep understanding of metrics and monitoring systems
- Experience performing log analysis and other network forensic investigations
- Deep expertise troubleshooting complex distributed systems
- Experience with creating and improving documented procedures and/or playbooks
