Job Description:
Plans, schedules, coordinates and/or monitors final approval of products through the complete production cycle to meet production requirements. Works from engineering plans and production specifications to ensure materials are provided according to schedules. Advises management of the status of work in progress, coordinates with manufacturing, quality, and supply chain and interfaces with engineering and program management as well as external customers. Ensures availability of materials and labor to meet production requirements and delivery commitments. Works to resolve labor and material shortages, backlogs and other potential schedule interruptions.
Essential Functions
The Master Production Scheduler will be a higher business level than Production Planning and should indirectly lead/mentor Production Planning.
- Serves as a primary point of contact for and liaison with sales, logistics, and manufacturing departments.
- Lead the monthly SIOP process meetings to review performance against schedule, inventory strategy, supply plan to meet demand, and resource implications
- Sales:
- Participates in monthly forecasting meetings with sales, marketing, and other related departments
- RFQ status oversight
- Perform supply-demand analysis each quarter, highlighting areas of concerns that cover 1-2 years
- Develop and own quarterly revenue targets by product line
- Report revenue progress and risk assessments on a as needed basis
- Develop and own quarterly revenue targets by product line
- Identify gaps and drive solutions on production performance relative to the requested production schedule
- Inventory:
- Develop and manage inventory targets that achieve targeted inventory levels on both a cost and unit basis
- Maintain inventory at target levels for FGI, WIP, RAW and STRIP that ensures the highest service levels, i.e. product availability
- Drive strategic inventory at necessary levels (FGI, WIP, RAW) to avoid stock outs and reduce overall lead-times of products
- Operations and Planning:
- Update the Master Production Plan weekly: Create a rolling 12-month Master Production Plan (12-month firm work orders) for designated products
- Utilize the production capacity, taking into consideration the sales forecast, historical sales, and new business opportunities. Analyze and identify risks associated with the options built into the Master Production Plan, including manufacturing lead times
- Drive stability into the supply chain by minimizing changes inside of lead-time (use strategic stock as necessary)
- Notify Planning and Operations of any major demand fluctuations that may impact capacity (labor, machines, tooling…etc)
- Ensure weekly coordination of the production plan with Planning to ensure execution of the production plan
- Work with outside LRU supply vendors; ensures accurate and timely delivery of orders
- Update the Master Production Plan weekly: Create a rolling 12-month Master Production Plan (12-month firm work orders) for designated products

Qualifications:
- Requires comprehensive level knowledge of job area. May have in-depth knowledge of project management. Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 9 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 7 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 13 years of prior related experience.

- Strategic thinker, strong analytical skills, able to synthesize considerable and complex data.Be capable of utilizing spreadsheet and ERP-type software in managing the planning process.

- Clearly has growth potential beyond the role.APICS Certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM) or APICS Certified Supply chain Professional (CSCP) a plus.Lean or Green Belt Six Sigma certification a plusExperience of working in either Simulation or an Engineering company preferred but not essential.
- Experience with SAP MRP system preferred but on the job training can be given.
