Job Description:
For the past 60 years, from the dawn of the Space Age, our L3Harris weather business has been an industry-leading provider of high-precision, space-based instruments for severe weather tracking and forecasting and low-latency, high-throughput ground systems providing command, control, communications, data processing, and spectrum management for domestic and international customers. Recognized as an external and internal expert and thought leader with deep and substantive technical expertise as well as advanced business knowledge and leadership capabilities, the Program Manager communicates with contacts inside and outside of the organization on matters of strategic importance to influence executive leadership and customers on new concepts, practices, and approaches. The candidate will extensively analyze near and long-term implications of various strategies, provide recommendations, and implement solutions that have a direct impact on business area goals. The role requires both advanced business knowledge and a technical mastery of how mission requirements relate to product performance. This is a part-time role and requires an onsite presence at the Fort Wayne, IN facility.
Essential Functions:
• Accountability to customer and L3Harris Spectral Sensor product line to include:
o Customer Satisfaction: Continually delight our customers with our values, responsiveness, and mission performance
o Financial: Align capture strategies with business goals: Orders, sales, operating income, investment, and cash flow
o Schedule: Timely, responsive, and successful execution of internal and external activities (informal) and deliverables (formal)
o Responsible for high-level relationship management
o Work with customers to align mission needs with spectral solutions technology to capture new business opportunities
o Solve highly complex problems with significant business impact
o Provide guidance on the preparation of program proposals, business plans, proposal work statements and specifications, operating budget, and financial terms/conditions of contract
o Communicate status, changes, risks, and opportunities to L3Harris leadership
o Collaborate with the broader organization to develop resource plans for strategy implementation such as manpower, teammates, production methods, and facility requirements
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 12 years of prior relevant experience; Or, Graduate Degree and a minimum of 10 years of prior related experience; Or, in lieu of a degree, a minimum of 16 years of prior related experience
Preferred Additional Skills:
• Proven experience in managing, analyzing, and implementing next-generation weather acquisitions for infrared sounder systems, and satellite data integration
• In-depth experience managing and supporting a diverse portfolio of weather-related customers (e.g., NOAA, NASA)
• Technical expertise in cross-track infrared sounders
• Experience in strategy development aligning internal capabilities with external needs to capture new business opportunities
• Strong customer relations with space-based acquisition agencies
• Experience with technology development program(s) with annual revenues of $50M+ ensuring performance optimization for atmospheric and environmental monitoring applications
• Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal skills for both internal and external customers
• Experience in Earned Value Management
