Job Description:
Work on space flight hardware assembly where tasks are structured with highly detailed work instructions. Support Engineering personnel performing general manufacturing, integration and testing of highly reliable space hardware assemblies of moderate to high complexity. Develop the ability to fabricate, assemble, integrate, and align hardware of high reliability subassemblies or perform complex electrical integration of thermal electrical subassemblies and components, including electrical boxes, optical assemblies and cables at a subsystem level and/or system and payload levels.Candidate may be required to perform tasks within a clean room environment, adhering to strict contamination control standards and protocols to ensure product integrity and quality. This role involves meticulous attention to detail and compliance with cleanroom procedures and attire at all times. The position may require travel of up to 20% and must be able to work non-standard shifts during specific high priority activities.
Qualifications:
- Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 4 years of prior relevant experience or 2 years post-Secondary/Associates Degree with minimum 2 years of prior related experience.
- Experience using basic hand tools such as torque wrenches, wire crimpers, hot tweezers for wire stripping, heat gun, soldering iron, digital multi-meter, micrometer, calipers, height gauges, dial indicators, etc.
- Ability to work in cleanroom environments.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- NASA 8739 certifications for soldering, polymerics, and cable & harness fabrication.
- IPC-J-STD-001 Space Addendum soldering certifications.
- IPC-/WHMA-A620 Space Addendum requirements and acceptance for cable and wire harness assemblies.
- Work within large & small team environments.
- Knowledge of foreign object debris (FOD) control and tool control processes.
- Experience working in a clean room.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to obtain a security clearance.
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to read and interpreate complex drawings and instructions.
- Good hand-eye coordination and dexterity is necessary, along withthe ability to work with small parts and hand tools under a microscope or extended periods of time.
