Job Description:
This Field Engineering Specialist position will perform depot maintenance activities in support of the Ground Based Radar Maintenance and Sustainment Service (GMASS) contract. Travel to multiple world-wide locations will be required to perform depot maintenance activities on radar systems; Perimeter Acquisition Radar Attack Characterization System (PARCS) radars and Upgraded Early Warning Radar (UEWR) radars.
Essential Functions:
The Field Engineering Specialist duties will include, but are not limited to:
- Perform Depot-level maintenance and troubleshooting at Radar Sites (PARCS & UEWR)
- Able to support short notice travel for emergency responses (24-hour response time) to both CONUS and OCONUS locations
- Perform depot maintenance, preventative maintenance, depot repairs, depot inspections, installation of system upgrades, and support Emergency/Urgent Depot Level Maintenance requests
- Troubleshoot and repair complex field service issues
- Apply mechanical/electrical/electronic fundamentals to: Analyze system/electrical/electronic components, software, control systems, interfaces of custom and commercial products used in ground-based radar and communication systems. Use system and circuit analysis techniques to determine failure cause/modes/mechanisms of system/subsystem components. Determine course(s) of action to facilitate repair/modification/replacement of system components to restore system function
- Conducts extensive investigation to understand root cause of problems. Problems span a wide range of difficult and unique issues across the function and/or business area
- Interface/coordinate with all engineering disciplines on the program to assist with fault isolation (Requires experience with schematics, logic drawings, layouts, wire lists, and prints)
- Inspect electrical/electronic equipment, instruments, and systems to make sure they meet safety standards and applicable regulations, and ensure safe working conditions for all team members
- Ability to provide technical assistance to on-site personnel; over telephone and in person
- Prepare, write, and review trip documentation to ensure compliance with Contract Data Requirements List (CDRL) requirements for delivery
- Familiar with use of Air Force / Space Force Technical Orders
- Provide inputs to Technical Order updates as required, develop maintenance procedures, and provide updates to engineering drawings
- Develop briefings for Leadership, Customer, and end-user sites
- Maintain professional standards of performance, demeanor, and judgment as detailed in L3Harris Technologies policies and procedures
- Maintain high ethical standards
Qualifications:
- SECRET security clearance required
- Ability to obtain a U.S. passport required
- Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 4 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of prior related experience
- Experience with electrical and RF test equipment, such as Oscilloscopes, Spectrum Analyzers, etc.
- Previous experience as a Field Engineer or similar role with world-wide travel
- Able to travel up to 40% of the time
- Ability to lift 40lb weights
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Specific experience in PARCS & UEWR radar systems, or similar radar systems
- Ability to set up various test equipment and evaluate the data to use as a troubleshooting aid
- Possess good written and oral communication skills
- Possess good decision-making ability and time management skills
- Very high attention to details
- Demonstrate strong management / leadership traits; self-motivator, strong interpersonal skills, initiative, team player, independent self-starter, and multi-tasker
In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role is $61,000 - $114,00 This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
