Job Description:
This position is for a manufacturing technician specifically responsible for production support and troubleshooting to keep automated assembly equipment running efficiently on second shift.
This is a 2nd shift position. The current second shift schedule is 4/10; Monday – Thursday, 4:00 PM – 2:30 AM. There is some flexibility with start and stop times. Occasional Friday and/or Saturday overtime may be required.
Essential Functions:
- Responsible for programming/creation and upkeep of machine operating programs for automated assembly, inspection, and test equipment
- Responsible for setup, maintenance, production support and troubleshooting of automated equipment
- Troubleshoot and resolve quality and cycle time issues by reducing errors, false calls, defects, scrap, and rework
- Identify root cause and implement permanent corrective actions
- Interface with engineers and supervisors to develop and improve processes and documentation
- Make quality decisions to continue production or stop the line with limited support during an off shift
- Train operators and inspectors on proper equipment operation
- Proficiency with a variety of hand, power, and test tools and equipment
- Equipment responsibilities may include some of the following:
- Circuit Card Assembly
- Screen printers
- Pick and place
- Reflow ovens
- Automated optical inspection
- X-ray inspection
- Selective solder
- Automated testers (flying probe, bed of nails, or custom functional testers)
- Adhesive applicators
- Conformal coat applicators
- Mechanical or Unit Assembly
- Potting/filling machines
- Laser welders
- Environmental test chambers (temperate, vibration, etc.)
- CNC machining equipment
- Mechanical assembly and automation equipment
- Staking, pressing, and crimping equipment
- Automated mechanical inspection equipment
- PLC programming
- Circuit Card Assembly
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 6 years of prior relevant experience or 2 years post-Secondary/Associates Degree with a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience.
- 2 years or more experience demonstrating excellent computer skills; equipment programming is accomplished through various software interfaces and databases.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- A two (2) year technical degree is preferred
- Experience with Circuit Card Assembly
- Experience working in a manufacturing environment
- PLC programming / ladder logic experience
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and work instructions
- Good communication skills and teamwork
- Ability to learn J-STD-001 / IPC-A-610
