Job Description:
The Specialist, Electrical Engineer, reporting to the Sustaining Engineering organization is to be responsible for the design maintenance of products released to manufacturing for ongoing production. Design maintenance includes engineering support for design, test, integration and sustaining of electrical components, equipment and systems supporting production and field related technical issues under limited supervision. The Sustaining Engineer will need to coordinate prioritization of major cross-functional issues to support ongoing program needs.
Essential Functions:
- Perform schematic design and circuit level simulation supporting failure analysis and obsolescence related activities.
- Experience with component replacement and necessary designs for obsolescence mitigation (Electrical designs/circuits).
- Support engineering changes for Sustaining Engineering projects that require form/fit/function analysis and prepare necessary documentation (e.g., engineering change proposals and internal department process documents)
- Perform routine Sustaining Engineering support assignments like troubleshooting failures of products in current production, manufacturing, and testing.
- Experience developing Bill of Materials (BOM) for hardware designs and systems and be knowledgeable with generating Engineering Change Request/Orders (ECR/ECO).
- Provide technical and troubleshooting support to test technicians and field service engineers. Good communication, collaboration, leadership/teamwork traits.
- Proficient with Microsoft word to create reports/documentation.
- Provide technical assistance and troubleshooting to drive root cause analysis to lead specific failure related investigations – support corrective action, capture supporting technical documentation and perform verification of corrective action: integration and test, qualification, etc.
- Excellent verbal and written communication, technical writing, and presentation skills. Be able to interface with the company’s engineering staff, suppliers, and customer personnel on program issues of technical concern.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 4 years of prior relevant experience,
- or, Graduate Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience,
- or, In lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of prior related experience.
- Ability to obtain a DoD Secret Clearance.
- Ability to travel with field service teams and provide technical troubleshooting efforts. (~less than 15% of the year).
- 2+ years of working knowledge and experience in design and analysis of high frequency and high-power switch mode power conversion equipment: DC/AC inverters, DC/DC converters, transformer rectifiers, active rectifiers and motor drivers
- 2+ years of experience working with Microsoft Project to track project progress and milestones.
- 2+ years of experience with Product Life Management (PLM) software – such as Oracle Agile PLM or equivalent
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Power Electronics design or test experience is a major plus.
- Power aspects such as rectifiers, DC link bus, power planes, Silicon Carbide (SiC) MOSFETS, IGBTs, transformers, H bridges, etc.
- Knowledgeable with AutoCAD to create/edit top level drawings and wiring diagrams.
- Available to provide engineering support during field installation.
- Knowledgeable with OrCAD schematic capture tools or equivalent.
- Active Security Clearance
In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role is $85,500 - $158,500. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
