Industrial Security Specialist - 16 Month Contract

About the Role
Performs a variety of procedural and administrative tasks to create, maintain and ensure protection of company, government property and information. Tasks may support one or more of the following areas: general security administration, clearance processing, access control, asset management, data collection, and record and report maintenance. Maintain security databases, logs, files, records and generate reports. Maintains and provides ongoing support to the travel security program. Researches and implements travel security regulations, monitors advisories and international events, and geopolitical trends/risks. Prepares business trip-specific risk assessments and briefings and establishes procedures for communication, journey management and risk mitigation. Conducts security education training and supports security audits. Aids in mitigating risks to facilities and personnel, locally and internationally.
Primary Responsibilities
- Liaison with PSPC, Controlled Goods Program and Contract Security Program to provide requested documents/information.
- Process Controlled Goods security assessments for WESCAM employees by compiling and reviewing various documents including reference checks, criminal record checks, education verification and others. Assist with overall record keeping and file maintenance.
- Monitor the status of security clearance applications and renewals to ensure timely processing and compliance with regulations.
- Maintain accurate records of clearance levels, expiration dates, and required updates in internal tracking systems and the Online Industrial Security Services Portal (OLISS).
- Proactively inform employees of upcoming renewal deadlines and assist with gathering necessary application documentation to prevent lapses in security clearance status. Identify and resolve any delays or discrepancies with new security clearance applications or renewals.
- Coordinate with the Contract Security Program and use the OLISS portal to facilitate efficient processing. Address any issues or additional requests from CSP officials to prevent delays in approval.
- Communicate with employees and government partners regarding security clearance matters & provide clear guidance on application requirements, timelines and status updates. Address inquiries, resolve issues, and escalate complex cases as needed.
- Provide employees with required security clearance briefings, including initial and refresher training. Ensure they understand their responsibilities, security protocols and compliance requirements. Address questions, clarify procedures, and reinforce best practices for handling classified information.
- Compile and maintain statistics on security clearance application/renewal volumes and processing times
- Maintain and provide ongoing support for the Business Travel Security Program.
- Monitor and track all L3Harris WESCAM employees on International Business Travel
- Develop risk assessments and perform Security Briefings and debriefings with International Business Travelers
- Review and respond to International Travel Approval Process submissions, and post-travel review forms.
- Supporting contractual compliance requirements as they relate to business travel
- Research and maintain country-specific Threat and Risk Assessments in relation to high or extreme risk travel.
- Support Security Department Goals and Objectives
- Support Audits and Inspections
- Provide oversight and guidance to the L3Harris WESCAM Controlled Goods Program, acting in the capacity as a Designated Official.
- Act as Alternate Company Security Officer (ACSO) for L3Harris WESCAM.
Required Capabilities
- Computer literate in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint
- A very effective communicator, in speaking with Government, Provincial, and Military/Security officials in the capacity of Controlled Goods, Contract Security Procedures,
- Sound communication skills in speaking with all levels of employees and management.
- Excellent writing, researching and briefing capabilities
- Effective trainer, in the delivery of Security Training/Briefing sessions.
- Strong program development and organizational skills.
- Proficient in being well organized in day-to-day activities including attention-to-detail.
- Experience in managing and supporting Regulatory compliance programs
- Must hold or be eligible to hold a Contract Security Clearance to the level of NATO Secret
Desired Education and Experiences
- 2-5 years in Corporate Security related function
- College / University Degree
- Experience dealing with all levels of employee and management in a medium to large organization.
- Proven track record of being a self-starter.
- Dealing with external agencies of L3Harris; Government, Provincial, and military.
