Job Description:
L3Harris Broadband Communication Systems (BCS) in Salt Lake City, Utah currently has a position open for an experienced EMI/EMC Technician to join our team in testing all our state-of-the-art products including but not limited to modems, power supplies, antennas, and communication systems for all branches of the military in support of our warfighter.
Essential Functions:
- Write EMI Test Report and other applicable documents
- Perform required pre-test setup and calibration measurements
- Conduct EMI/EMC tests
- Set up and perform EMI tests as directed, in accordance with our internal test procedures and applicable standards
- Accurately observe and record test progression and results
- Organizes and documents data for each assigned project
- Maintains in-depth knowledge of EMI test standards, EMI test procedures, and EMI test instrumentation
- Direct EMI testing activities and participate in EMI related system and sub-system troubleshooting efforts
- Interacts with customers during the testing process, periodically assists with troubleshooting and development modifications
- Interface with other members of the Systems and Design Engineering team
- US Citizenship required
- Ability to obtain a US Security Clearance. Preferably holds a current clearance
Required Qualifications:
- BS degree in electrical engineering field or related electronic engineering technology degree
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Minimum of 3 years of related experience
- Experience with common lab equipment, such as: Oscilloscopes, Spectrum Analyzers, Receivers, Signal Generators, RF amplifiers, Antennas, EMI current probes, LISNs
- Proficiency in Microsoft Applications (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Experience with running EMI/EMC tests, assembling and troubleshooting EMI/EMC test setups including EMI test software such as TILE.
- Experience with EMI test software, EMI shield rooms/chambers and associated maintenance
- An understanding of MIL-STD-461 with a focus on testing.
- Knowledge of Commercial (FCC, CE-Mark, RTCA DO-160) and Military (UK DEF-STAN 59-41) specifications and related qualification testing is beneficial but not required
- A working knowledge of electromagnetic theory, radiated and conducted emissions, signal and power coupling effects, susceptibility of systems, Electromagnetic Interference (EMI), Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC), and Lightning effects
- iNARTE certification as an EMI Technician is a plus
