Job Description:
L3Harris in Palm Bay, FL currently has an opening for a FPGA Digital Hardware Engineer to support exciting projects! In this role, you will support the development of Field Programmable Gate Array devices for data acquisition and telemetry products. Responsibilities will include generation of specifications, component selection, FPGA coding, simulation, and analyses, support of PWB layout, and integration & verification testing.
Essential Functions:
- Understand, develop, and document requirements for space-based FPGA designs
- Design FPGAs through the life cycle including: Architecture development, algorithm implementation, synthesizable VHDL code generation
- Perform FPGA Design Verification: Testbench development, scripting, VHDL simulation
- Perform FPGA Design Implementation: Constraint driven FPGA Synthesis, place and route, static timing analysis
- Verify FPGA Designs: Testbench development, scripting, VHDL simulation
- Generate design review and formal documentation including: review packages, block diagrams, interface control documents, test procedures, requirements verification matrices, and test plans/procedures.
- Conduct design peer reviews at various phases in the development process
Qualifications:
- Bachelors of Science Degree in electrical/computer engineering and 4+ years of professional experience, OR, a Masters in electrical/computer engineering and 2+ years of professional experience. lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of prior related experience.
- Experience using VHDL for FPGA designs
- Experience with FPGA testbench development to verify designs
- Experience in building FPGAs with difficult timing and/or difficult routing constraints
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Real world application working knowledge of VHDL, the FPGA design process, and the tools used to generate the FPGA designs
- Experience with developing formal FPGA requirements and specifications
- Understanding of version control best practices and tools (subversion, git, etc) to closely track changes to the FPGA baseline
- High speed memory interfaces and/or high speed SERDES interfaces
- Analog to Digital (AD) and Digital to Analog (DA) interfaces
- Experience with vendor tool suites such as AMD, Microchip, Intel
- Familiarity with Questasim simulator and Synopsys Synplify/Synplify Pro synthesis
