Job Description:
Design and development of electrical/electronic design, starting from concept and advancing maturity for implementation into finished working designs.
Manages project initiatives of importance to the organization with general oversight and direction. Communicates within and outside of the organization to explain and influence changes to practices, processes and approaches. Makes improvements in processes, systems, or products.
Essential Functions:
- Design and develop electrical/electronic design concepts and implement concepts into finished working designs. Work from specification requirements, design concepts and inputs from customer and other engineers involving multidisciplinary activities.
- Must have mixed signal Circuit Card Assembly (CCA) design and development experience that includes deriving requirements, selecting components, designing and analyzing circuits, and testing and troubleshooting CCAs.
- Familiarity with Mentor Graphics PADS and Xpedition for CCA development or ability to learn leveraging other CAD tools
- Capable of performing design analysis and establish circuit level tests to establish validity of designs including thermal effects and contributions of tolerance.
- Review Printed Wiring Board (PWB) layouts and answer questions from PWB/CCA manufacturers to facilitate board fabrication and assembly
- Develop test methods and associated test equipment for vetting of CCAs, including assisting in development of Test Sets and Test Harnesses for this purpose
- Manage projects/processes with general supervision and regularly communicate with other engineering disciplines
- Provide guidance and coaching to junior engineers for CCA development, and assist EE leads with delegation of tasking accordingly
- Assist in development of estimates to complete work, in terms of both engineering hours and schedule duration
- Prepare and present internal and external design reviews to demonstrate the design meets all specifications and customer requirements.
- Develop production documentation and see through the configuration management process (Official release, redlines, Configuration Control Board meetings, etc.)
- FPGA background a plus
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or similar and minimum 4 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of prior related experience
- Ability to obtain security clearance at the DOD Secret level which requires U.S. Citizenship.
- Minimum 4 years of experience in a development environment
- Must have excellent written/verbal communication skills
- Familiar with MS Office products
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Familiar with Mentor Graphics PADS and Xpedition
- Familiar with Xilinx, VHDL, TIVA, DSPs
- Technical leadership
