Exciting Opportunity at L3 Harris Undersea Systems!
The L3 Harris Undersea Systems division within the Integrated Mission Systems segment is seeking a highly motivated HR Business Partner for our Northampton, MA site. Do you have a solution-focused mindset for resolving issues and enhancing processes? If so, this could be the perfect fit for you!
This role will report to the Undersea Systems division HR Director and will support the Site Program Management Director and Operations client group to align HR strategies with business objectives, ensuring effective workforce utilization to achieve organizational goals. Key responsiblities will also include proactively addressing the unique needs of bargaining unit employees, leveraging your experience in labor relations to foster positive relationships and resolve issues.
Essential Functions:
- Strategic Alignment: Align HR strategies with L3Harris, Integrated Mission Systems, and Undersea Systems business objectives, ensuring the consistent and unbiased application of various annual HR processes, initiatives and programs.
- Labor Relations / Contract Administation: Direct experience in labor relations, including an understanding and interpretation of contract language, grievance management, and union dynamics.
- Employee Relations: Serve as a point of contact for employee concerns, fostering a positive work environment, facilitating conflict resolution, and maintaining legal compliance. Conduct investigations as necessary and maintain management representation.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential for interacting with diverse stakeholder groups, including union leaders, employees, management HR functional teams and Centers of Excellence.
- Advisory Role: Act as a consultant to management on HR-related issues, providing guidance and recommendations. Provide coaching and counseling at all levels in the Operations organization.
- Workforce Staffing: Lead strategic workforce staffing and talent development, and retention strategies partnering with Operations business leaders and COEs to ensure the organization has the necessary skills and competencies to meet current and future needs.
- Performance Management: Support the performance management process that drives high performance and supports employee development.
- Change Management: Partner to implement and influence organizational change initiatives, helping to manage transitions and facilitate effective two-way communication.
- HR Metrics and Analytics: Formulate and utilize HR metrics and analytics to inform decision-making and measure the effectiveness of HR initiatives.
- Teamwork: Collaborate with COEs to develop, facilitate and implement the timely, accurate and appropriate delivery of solutions, programs and policies that support the strategic goals of the company, connect business value with talent, and promote a diverse, inclusive environment that maximizes the success of the people.
Qualifications:
- BA/BS degree in Human Resources Management or related field. Bachelor’s degree and minimum of 6 years of prior relevant experience.
- Proficient working knowledge and competent understanding of Human Resources management, principles, labor law legislation, such as the National Labor Relations Act (NLRA),
- Ability to influence and problem solve in the areas of compensation, employee and labor relations, talent assessment, performance management, talent acquisition and employee relations.
- Works under general direction to support day-to-day responsibilities and utilizes strong problem-solving skills to reach resolutions.
- Exercises independent discretion and judgment as required to achieve desired outcomes.
- Strong attention to quality, process detail and the use of standard Microsoft office tools including Excel (Vlookups, and pivot tables).
- Comfortable working in an environment which demands timely deliverables along with the ability to identify problems and drive appropriate solutions
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Graduate degree and/or SHRM or PHR/SPHR certification.
- Experience with organizational development and change strategies to influence and assist organizational change initiatives in a complex growth environment.
- Hands-on experience negotiating collective bargaining agreements (CBAs) with unions, including understanding the entire negotiation process.
- Familiarity with relevant labor laws and regulations, such as the National Labor Relations Act (NLRA), to ensure compliance during negotiations.
