Job Title: Circuit Breaker Technician (Field Tech)

Job Description:

The Circuit Breaker Technician will be responsible for troubleshooting AQB and ACB type circuit breakers. This position will make necessary connections, operate breakers, and switchboard modifications.

Essential Functions:

  • Troubleshoot AQB & ACB type circuit breakers, including SPD, ITE, GE, Westinghouse, Cutler Hammer, ABB, Whipp & Bourne, switchgear equipment, and current transducers.
  • Perform teardown and assembly of breakers, bus work and associated electrical and mechanical components.
  • Conduct various electrical tests using the following equipment - multimeter, megger, hipot, millivolt, and current injection set.
  • Read and interpret schematic diagrams, drawings, specification sheets, work instructions & procedures.
  • Make necessary connections, operate breakers, and switchboard modifications.
  • Able to obtain and maintain a DoD Clearance.
  • Position requires standing for long periods and being able to lift up to 50lbs.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications:

  • Requires highly developed job knowledge and skills typically obtained through a combination of education and experience.
    • High School Diploma or equivalent with eight (8) years of prior Circuit Breaker experience to include three (3) years of rebuilding, repairing, and retrofitting breakers.
    • 2 years post-secondary/associates degree with four (4) years of prior Circuit Breaker experience to include three (3) years of rebuilding, repairing, and retrofitting breakers.
  • Must be a US Citizen. 

Preferred Skills:

  • Three (3) years of 120V-416V of shipboard electrical Experience and use of hand tools.
