About your next challenge as Senior Specialist, Systems Administration (IT System Administrator) :
The IT System Administrator will be actively involved in supporting, maintaining, troubleshooting, monitoring and administrating the Windows server infrastructure. To be successful in this position, they must display excellent teamwork skills, technical, written and oral communication skills, and ability to learn and adapt in a fast-paced environment. The candidate must have in depth knowledge of Windows server and virtual technology. The candidate will also be responsible for capacity, storage planning and ensuring infrastructure data backups are completed and any issues resolved. Troubleshooting and resolving issues reported via Service Desk is required. The candidate will be reporting to the IT Infrastructure and Security Manager.
What you will do:
- Setup, oversee and support the windows server environment;
- Responsible for the maintenance, configuration, and reliable operation of computer systems, network servers, and virtualization;
- Troubleshoot Windows server and other infrastructure problems;
- Work with IT and business management on capacity planning;
- Work with IT and business management to procure, test and roll out new servers, software tools and processes;
- Work with IT and business management to provision for storage needs;
- Perform or delegate regular backup operations and implement appropriate processes for data protection, disaster recovery, and failover procedures;
- Apply OS patches and upgrades on a regular basis via automated deployment tools;
- Responsible to conduct research and recommend technology and future trends;
- Develop, document, and maintain operational, configuration, or other procedures;
- Ensure the integrity and security of enterprise data on host servers, multiple databases in accordance to business needs and industry best-practices regarding privacy, security, and regulatory compliance.
Required Skills and Experiences:
- Experienced working knowledge of configuring, deploying and maintaining Windows server operating systems;
- Advanced knowledge of computer hardware technology;
- Knowledge of modern server architectures and best practices;
- Experienced in Exchange and Active directory;
- Experienced in VMware, Nutanix;
- Ability to work independently and manage own time.
Preferred additional skills
- Working knowledge of SCCM, Big fix, WSUS;
- Working knowledge of VMWare vCenter for VM management;
- Working Knowledge of PowerShell, Cohesity, Commvault, Linux.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Must be eligible for registration with the Controlled Goods Program;
- Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a government of Canada Reliability status and Secret Level 2/NATO Secret security clearance.
